At least I now understand why you've never been attached to any car you've owned.

Edit: to be fair, Focus mk1 was great little car.

I only bought my first car 2013, a 3 series BMW. Had to get rid it of it when the boy was born in 2017. I miss it everyday when I'm getting into the dad mobile that is the Vauxhall Insignia.

Only cars I’ve really missed are a Mini 1275 GT and a Mk1 Mazda MX-5.

Both great fun to drive. The Mini was insane, made every country lane feel like the Nordschleife and probably worth a decent amount now if it hadn’t been a rusty heap.

Loved the MX-5, I modified it a bit, it wasn’t fast but was a joy to drive. Had so much fun in that car but scrapped it after a friend borrowed it one day and drove it into a bus stop. Always regretted not keeping it and rebuilding it as a track car but the timing just wasn’t right.

I'm in the camp of I have no regrets because when I sold the car it was needed to be sold as it was a bit tired.

I must have run most of my later cars for at least 7 or 8 years, more in some cases, so I haven't owned that many.

Ford Escort Mk I (1.3 I think)

Ford Capri Mk 1 1/2 (Mk I body with new 2l Mk 2 engine)

Ford Capri 3.0 JPS

VW Scirocco 1.6 GTi

Ford Capri 2.8i (pattern there!)

Peugeot 405 Mi16 4x4 - great all-rounder.

Nissan Almera 2.0 Gti - as above

Honda Accord Tourer 2.2i - got this as a workhorse with a bit of power, and it does the job very well.
