Surprising, when it was around at the same time as the Focus RS, Golf GTi mk5 and Civic Type R. Perhaps he never drove them.
MINI Cooper S too.

Jeep Cherokee 4.0L Orvis edition
14 years old when I bought it.
MINI Cooper S too.
My only 'car regret' was and remains the car I was going to buy; really wanted to buy - but didn't. It would have been my first car - and as I was earning a good salary for my first job in 1984 it was to have been a Renault 205 GTI. And I think I would still miss it if I had bought it.
Instead? On a visit to Glasgow that year my dad persuaded me to buy an almost new Mk3 Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia. Truth is - I really liked it, but it wasn't the Renault 205 GTI I rather craved. I had that Escort for many years - and I missed it when it was written off after a crash in 1992.

Indeed I did…doh…even trying to post in the spirit of the thread I display my lack of any real interest in cars ?I think you mean Peugeot?
I knew a guy who had one and he was also a fan of them - until it got stolen!Honda Prelude, 2.2 .
Lovely car, 4 wheel steering, when my company moved site had to get a more sensible car to commute in![]()
A mate of mine had one for many years, the 205 GTI. I got a lot of lifts in that car. It was indeed a cracker.Do you mean Peugeot 205 GTi? Renault 5 GT was the other French hot hatch.

Indeed they were. I remember seeing one for a few seconds on several of my weekly returns home from Southend - at least I think it was the same one, as I never really got the chance to check the plate!...
The Renault 5 GT was an insane car, so fast for being so small.
The only car I was sad to let go of was my gold-wheeled Subaru Impreza WRX STi, in metallic grey. Around 300 bhp and rapid! Was doing too many work miles, thus had to be replaced by a 1.9TDi Audi.
I know that when my current car goes, that will be hard. Unless I keep it![]()
