Who's watching the Liverpool match?

Kenny to stay or Rafa back

I guess absence really does make the heart grow fonder. I remember boat pool fans wanted raga out. Not aggressively forced, but felt his number was up. I personally think Kenny shouldn't have been elbowed as he'd won cups and not don't any worse than most in league for recent years. But it looks like it could be a goo decision.

You've changed your opinion, if Roy was as great as you've mentioned the minimum he should be doing is getting England to the semis as he got Switzerland to 4th in the world after all.

I couldn't care less about England tbh but it will be funny to watch the clueless blagger bluff his way through games.

As for Kenny, I only wanted him back because he WAS the better option out of the 2 of them, which results proved he was.

Hodgson isn't fit to lace Kenny's boots.

Not really changed my mind at all, as I clearly never said he was an amazing coach. Just blatantly better than you're giving him credit for. We could have pep, SAF, or mourinho in charge and I'd still see us going out around quarters. Don't know the numbers of top of my head, but I can't remember too many WC winners not featuring in at least one pen shoot out, and no matter who's in charge I doubt they'd improve us at that.

I never wanted Rafa out - he was standing up to the two criminals

How can such a big club go so long with out winning the league? Sorry but to blame it on other teams spending more is just a cop out. Liverpool haven't exactly been tight in the transfer market.

Fair enough, and I'm sure you have a better grasp of the local feeling. But all of the armchair fans I knew thought his number was up. Whilst agreeing that the yanks had to go too.

Armchair/Internet fans sums it up.

Whilst I agree to a point. They still have a right to an opinion. Clubs still need them to grow and prosper! I mean how much money do the bigs clubs make from the Middle East. If only season ticket holders and regulars count, then very few people in the world are allowed an opinion on their clubs.

Still unsure about him - think tactically and as a coach he is superb - his signings though I'm not too sure about and at times he has been a bit naive with his selections

But his brand of football is great to watch - if we don't get Top 4 though this season it's going to be a struggle for him

13 games left - 6 at home , if we win those 6 at home and grab a few other points that should give us CL
Liverpool league positions in the last four years, 7th,6th,8th,7th. Points behind champions, a lot. This season 4th challenging for the title 6 points off the top, with two teams above to play at home. Likely to finish well ahead of Man U as a bonus.:) Think his job will be safe for a while.

Would you agree that Spurs are a big club, Everton, Chelsea (maybe), Man United, City and Newcastle (controversial).

Spurs last won the league (and only time) in 1961.

Everton havent won the league for 24 years, or a trophy for 19 years.

Chelsea (before the money) hadn't won the league since 1955.

Newcastle (apart from the Fairs cup) havent won a trophy since Wor jackie.

Man U (biggest/bestest club ever) went 26 years without winning the league.

City (before the money) hadn't won the league in 40 odd years.

Hardly in unusual company are we?

Pinseeker - who do you actually support, as it really isn't obvious? Or do you just buzz off giving stick to the (un)flavour of the month? Better to support someone than just be the critic of everyone else, I find.

Expecting the "Ooh, aren't you Liverpool fans touchy response"............

Talking about recent managers at the mighty reds I see it like this:

Rafa - did fantastic, won trophies. One thing i would say is the season we finished second i think he made some really poor decisions.
Woy - Did @@@@ all apart from take an improving team and destroy it by having them play boring defensive footie like a team fighting for relegation. Infact a bit like England appear to play now also.
King Kenny - I think he got pushed into taking the job. Someone had to and no one else would. Did not have the greatest of times back in charge, but show me a Liverpool who still does not see him as a god.
Rodgers - Exciting attacking football, that scores lots of goals that has got us into a position to have a go at winning the league in along time. Still having to work with a tight budget compared to the other top clubs, but still brought some fantastic players in like Sturridge and Couthino for less than £20M.

Now the prat pulling the purse strings. He needs to shut the @@@@ up about who we are looking at and just go get them. He sits there showing off about players he is trying to do deals with and they eventually fall through as someone else buys them instead. Liverpool put all the time in trying to work a deal to only loose out at the last minute, Willian and Erikson, just a couple to mention. If we had those 2 then I think we would win the league this year.

Since the 1991/92 season when it all stared to go down hill we have still managed to win:
1 champions league
3 FA cups
4 League Cups
1 Uefa cup

Total = 9 trophies in 21 seasons

In the 16 seasons before it looked like this:
4 Euro Cups (Champions League)
9 League titles
2 FA Cups
4 League Cups

Total = 19 trophies in 16 years.
They also came runner up 10 times in major trophies during those years

That is the problem at Liverpool. We had it far too good for too many years destroying everyone in our way. Let's not get into the European Ban, but they would have probably added to those honours also as they did have possibly the best team in Europe.

We as Liverpool fans just crave the glory days to be back. A lot of teams like the other current top 4 have never dominated football like Liverpool did and United have for the last 21 years, so have never experienced the come down when you fall from glory.

Welcome to our world United, it can't last forever...........

I missed this pearler of fishing

Chelsea - 50 years without winning the title until the money

Actually its twice..

that's how football is nowadays. No money no glory. We are still probably £80M short of being genuine title contenders.

That's £80mil for 3-4 players plus their wages every month - it's hard to sustain those sort of wage bills without a helping hand

With modern players chasing the money - it's always going to be which team is willing to pay him the most

From what I understand we are trying to offer low basic but add in incentives to players to boost their wages - so basically they will get the big bucks if they earn it on the pitch - as opposed to just getting it anyway. The idea is spot on but realistically it won't ever work unless all the clubs do it

There lies the problem. If we are to be a genuine threat to Man City and Chelsea then some kind of financial investment is needed.
From the keeper into the holding midfield positions I think we are not too bad when everyone is fit, we do have 2 players in every position and those back up players are not too bad. Who do we really have in the more advanced roles though that are proven Premier League players? Couthino, Sturridge, Sterling, Suarez and Henderson.
