Ok guys idea for a get together

How would everyone feel about meeting up at a range somewhere for half a day and maybe trying each others equipment out???

I did this with RGUK when he wanted new Irons and I met him so he could try out my X20's and some Big Bertha Irons I acquired. I also tried out some of his collection of spare clubs to give me an idea of what to put in my bag next.

Would be a great way to put faces to names, chance to try out kit with out paying for a fittment, possibly even a swap shop opportunity etc.

Obv depending on where it was held would depend on who would go but I suppose it could be done regionally if enough interest was there, or if people were willing to travel, somewhere central

It would be a great opportunity for everyone to bring along those training aids for people to try, show each other the drills they have aquired over the years and maybe even show case some of those embarresing gadgets they secretly love.

Hell it could even be a forum Christmas get together I suppose. (I could bring mince pies) :D

Now I know what its like for getting people to commit to dates but we wouldn't have to book anything although, I would be inclined to contact a range and let them know our intentions and ask if they could possibly reserve a few bays for us. Tell them there might be a bit of money spent through out the day :D

All just rough ideas at the moment and would be happy to receive some more.

COME ON guys, its time we REALLY got together, We might even get GM along with some of there stuff! :p

Would this range be bolted onto an AG or DG? Perhaps a few manufactuers could be there as a demo day?

Nice idea Tony, but I think that it might need the contacts and thump of a GM organised event.

But that aside, a morning on the range, and the afternoon on the course would be nice.

Time, money and where is going to be my main problem.

As a suggestion for the Berkshire/Surrey based members, there is a pretty large AG with a range and a course at Bird Hills at Maidenhead which would make a pretty good location. My suggestion would probably be for a round am, bit of lunch and onto the range to try out each others gear and maybe get a few drivers from the shop too.

I would love to but unfortunately I can only play when I feel I can and that very often prevents me making any solid arrangements. These days I cant enter comps very often as mornings are my very worst time of the day, MS is a bitch really. I would love to join people on here but its hit and miss for me IM afraid, but wish you all the best and a good session whenever!

It doesn't have to be a great big get together with GM although it would be nice. I just feel that the guys at GM may have too much on over xmas. Only saying this because they had to pull out of the national meet till next year.

If enough members where interested it could be held at an AG with range attatched and I for one wouldn't mind ringing and asking for some equipment to be layed on.

Maybe some prizes on offer for some competitions, longest drive, putting contest, nearest the pin etc. I too would be willing to ask them for some prizes to donate.

I really feel this could be a great day with a little organisation. I will be looking for commited forumers to help out too :p

I can't see us getting a national event organised given everyone schedules etc but it may be nice to get a few local ones sorted. I read on here about certain ranges being recommneded for custom fittings so they would be decent places to try. My suggestion of my area could incorporate a golf day (with some prizes etc) and a range session. I think Maidenhead should be fairly accessible (M40, M4 etc) but if others have better options then put them on here as I'm happy to go somewhere else

Tony
You really do have too much time on your hands :D

Hell why not.
Pick a venue, down south if necessary. could try a range then a round. Has to be a round, i'll bring my putters. Stop over for me as i'm up't north.

BTW I can bring my spare set of X20's t'mora if you want a go :).

Whilst this looks like a great venue, I am not sure any of the scottish lads would be up for traveling that far unless they could stay over.

I was only muting the venue for a Surrey/Berks or at very best Southern meet. I thought in the run up to Christmas a national meet would be unlikely especially as we are yet to arrange a national meet to play

O sorry H with VIG saying he would stay over I thook it for a suggestion for down south, I dont mind, I would travel and stay over but I understand everyone wont be able to do this!

Lets give it a week or so for people to put interest in and decide where it would be best.

Hey I only muted the venue as it had all the components required in the OP. I knew when I suggested it that it would probably wouldn't be suitable for 99% of the regular posters on here but that with the right date it was accessible from the West Country Oxford, maybe Birmingham via M40 and maybe to others via M4 and M3.

I have a few domestic issues to deal with which prohibits me actually getting too involved in any arranging but just thought the venue ticked all the boxes (including being cheap). With the range, course and an AG I thought it would suit. If others want to make it a national event I'm happy to go with the consensus
