CRUDEN BAY NOW RANKED No 61 AMONG WORLD'S COURSES

PGA Director of Golf, Cruden Bay GC

I thought you might be interested in the recent Top 100 rankings according to ‘Links Magazine’ (an American golf magazine) which now show Cruden Bay ranked at No 61 in the worlds Top 100 Courses.
The full listing can be seen at www.linksmagazine.com
Like other such lists Links Magazine has a panel of well-travelled judges who contribute towards creating these rankings. However, in addition, any golfer can contribute by casting a vote on the LINKS100 ballot and these votes also count towards the final ranking position.
We at Cruden Bay are obviously delighted with this elevated position. As well as raising our profile across the golfing world, this new ranking is an acknowledgement of the recent and ongoing improvements to the course – in particular returning the greens to a bent/fescue surface - and the progress made in providing members and guests with a true ‘Links Experience’ each and every time they play at Cruden Bay.

It is a Yank thing, but based on the top 20, appears to be a lot more discerning than many others. I would put RCD up a few places, though.

These things are always subjective, and below the top 10 or 20 should be read in 10s rather than one after the next.

A lot of players like Cruden Bay. More than you do, that is.

Totally agree that Cruden Bay is overrated, the amazing views must cloud the judgments of peeps and push it higher up the rankings. Just too many silly holes for it to be that high up.

Although, they have a new Head Green keeper from Royal Dornoch and heard he is doing wonders at the club

It is one of those courses that leaves a lasting impression… But with playing a lot at Royal Aberdeen, no way is it a better course! Cruden Bay though is a bit of fun, that the American's love, whereas Royal Aberdeen is a tough one, and probably leaves most scared… :p

As an "experience" I can understand, but not agree with the rankings, but as a course personally I think Royal Aberdeen is better than most in Scotland, and should be top 40 at worst

I don't get the fact RA is so far down on many rankings. For me it is an absolute belter of a golf course and the toughest track I have had the pleasure of playing.

Wonder what factors make up the rankings?

Royal Aberdeen is a tad pricey at £120 and Cruden Bay is £80 representing better value and may help bump it up the rankings.
