10 being excellent and then in 20 words max explain why ?

Why? Average FIR 1, GIR 2, worst ball striker I have ever seen, and yet scramble it round in circa 81 more often than not.

Dont seem extraodrinarily weak in any area but covet others short games, drives, putting, chipping etc.

What about you 3offthetee - you don't seem to have included yourself here......

Driving steady or erratic, irons v bad, short game and putting only positives at moment.

For a high handicapper i'd say.

Driving - 6 or 7 - usually find 9 or 10 out of 14 fairways. Unfortunately still slap the occasional one into water or OOB.

Irons - 2 - rarely manage to find a GIR with my mid irons. Probably hit 3 or 4 shots a round with an iron that i'm happy with.

Short game - 8 or 9 - strongest part for me. Putting average is well below 2 if i've missed the green. My 2 wedges are my favourite clubs by a mile.

Putting - ??? I can either putt, or can't putt, very hit or miss. I think putting's all about confidence, if i'm feeling beaten, the putter fails me miserably.

Driving erratic, irons generally good, can duff chips and putting inconsistent.

driving 3/10 - either have on or off days but too many off days where not clearing the left side

irons 8/10 - holding my golf together, hitting a bundle of good iron shots every round i play

short game 1/10 - intermittent between adequate and appalling

putting 7/10 - i hole out well and make more than my share from 10-15ft


Ok, off to the range to hit some iron shots and then onto the putting green

4, 6 7, 5. handicap 12

Problem with driving distance, good recovery with hybrids and steady short game

Drives need straightened,long irons atrocious,not close enough to the pin,not many 3 putts,not enough 1 putts.

Unofficial handicap now down to 20.

If 10 means pro standard then 1s all round and only because there's nothing lower

However, based on club golfers, I'd say...

Driving - 7
Long Irons - 5
Mid Irons - 6
Short Irons\Wedges - 8
Short Game - 6
Putting - 8

This is based on the fact that I make most of my costly errors with my mid-long irons and don't scramble well enough because I don't chip close enough regularly enough.

Driving 6/10
Irons 8/10
Short Game 6/10
Putting 7/10

Dropped Driver for 3-wood - more control; Irons - pretty good; Working on improving short game; Putting - good on line, working on pace.

Irons are the best part of my game.
Short game is OK.
