Every now and then a historical date comes up on the news reports...
All too often, these days, leaving me asking...
Where have those years gone?

Today it was... Twenty years since Philip Lawrence was murdered...

With me its more often that Song A was released in year B which seems forver ago..

Latest was Bo Rap being released 40 years ago......strewth.:mmm:

I'm with Imurg on this one, it's when you realise how long ago particular albums were released:

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms; 30 years ago
Michael Jackson - Thriller; 33 years ago
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours; 38 years ago
The Who - Who's Next; 44 years ago
Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed; 46 years ago

Sporting moments for me

11 years ago was the night Gerrard scored that screamer against Olympiakos:whoo:

And I watched it in a tent in Basra

Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody - 1973 - jings, crivvens, help ma' boab! I mind that being released and played at school disco for first time - was a very popular little ditty back in the day.

Apt for me given the weekend I had. Misplaced Childhood 30 years old. Having met Marillion in a Surbiton pub inthe writing sessions at Barwell Court in Chessington this has gone full circle. Some of the guys I was with that night no longer here. So much in my own life has changed.

We used to have a film club at my secondary school and I remember quite vividly going to watch Zulu not long after it came out.
I watch it now and see Michael Caine as a fairly young actor. Look at him now.
Almost half a century ago.

I'll be having a beer tonight in Dublin with an old school friend. We left school 40 years ago. And we have grandchildren now.

Ten years since Buncefield...
Bloomin' heck!

A good deal of Hertfordshire, North London and beyond got a loud awakening that morning...
Very 'lucky' it was of a Sunday...
Could have been much worse otherwise...
