When do you stop playing a ball?

New ball every comp if it is still with me after 18 holes it in the bag for social golf.
always only play pro v1 as you get used to the spin length etc.
Give any other make I find to the juniors at the club but some of them will only play pro v as well now.

I am exactly the same.

Can't quite understand those that change them after a few marks. Unnecessary and costly I think.

Each to their own though.

Always play a new ball in a competition or formal matchplay match. Use good pick ups and decent used balls for provisionals and social golf. Any Taylor Made , ropey pick ups and over used balls go straight into my practice bag for whacking into the farmers fields !!

Tend to use them until there are significant marks on the cover.

Depends on whether you have new clubs (especially wedges) as they shave slices of the cover. Also if you have hit some long bunker shots as the grit sand we use also damages them.

In general the Pro v1s are a lot more durable than they used to be.

i would use a new ProV1 for a medal, then prob get a couple of bounce games with it. then it would go in with all the balls i collect while walking the dogs.

I seem to remember an article in GM about Pro V's and the said you can play them when they are really knackered so long as they hadn't been drop on a cliff face where they might be damaged internally

Mate of mine who plays off 11 retires a ball when he hits a round in the 70s

Have split a few pro vs inside but with cover still intact looks really weird ,especially when putting.
