If you had the choice to play any type of course what would you opt to play?

Probably Heathland, but then I've never played a links course, so I can't include that. I suspect that my answer would change to Links once I've played one though.

yeah nothing like standing getting the head blown off you with wind and the rain belting in your face as you stomp around in the roughest of the rough rough stuff hoping to stand on your ball. ;)

Links for me, just love the challenge, and no trees to hit ten yards in front of the tee.;) Anyone in the South that hasn't played links golf get yourself down to Saunton.

Heathland for me.. combines some of my favourite elements of all types.

Love the old school courses with tight springy turf, and a backdrop of mature trees around the greens.

Links is pure, I know, but just doesn't do it for me in the same way.

BTW, had to laugh at the American description "sand and water everywhere". In no way does that colour anyone's judgement before voting! :D

Quite right though. Sand, water and spittle everywhere.

Heathland is beautiful. I can't see why Parkland would be more popular than heathland. Whilst I like links, I have played too few courses to really appreciate it, and always find it an anti climax when I turn away from the sea.

Keegan Bradley @Keegan_Bradley
Id like to apologize for my spitting It's like a reflex,I don’t even know I’m doing it, but it's a longtime habit I’ve got to try to conquer

at least he knows he has a problem.

some of the sea views can be breathtaking but as you say when your not looking at the sea theres in all honesty not a lot to look at and every course can seemly blend into one big links course in your head.

Heathland for me.
Really don't get Links - it looks to me like chasing a ball around a desolate landscape...... Not appealing at all.

its like golf on mars with dodgey grass! theres going to be some die-hards not happy with these descriptions.

Links for me.

I enjoy the different types of shot you're required to play, The greens are usually superb and consistent and you get to play decent golf throughout winter.
I always seem to score well on links courses, I put this down to the fact that you can get the Texas wedge out on links, this take my usually crap short game out of the equation!
