What's The Worst Score You've Ever Seen?

I was just having a nosey at my mates scores (he plays at a different course to me and I like to see how he's getting on) and noticed that after one of his recent disasterous rounds that someone had actually played worse, scoring 132 playing off, well not really, 28.
A real case for giving the chap one o' those Club Handicaps I think.

Before the usual mob rush in, I'm not taking the mick, hell we've all had nightmares out on the course, but what's the worst score you've ever seen?

Last month someone scored 137 playing off a 25 handicap. Considering 16 out of the 62 entrants N/R'd I give him great credit for sticking with it.

You get some high scores up here from time to time.

At the Northern Open at Royal Dornoch this year one of the pro's was 19 over i thnk. Then a couple of years ago the guy that won the Carnegie Shield with scores in the 60's gross went another open on an easier course and shot 100+

Ive shot 100 off 5 before and was still in the top 30 in a field of 130.... all the others NR'd:rofl:

we always have a bet between us on the best score and as the others all NR'd i took the pot:thup:

I play in a society 4 times per year where some of the guys play literally just for the social aspect. The Handicaps range from 15 to 65 to give everyone a chance of winning.

I played 2 society days recently, one at Remedy Oak and a so called 23 handicapper played 160 shots he then played a 140 at Dorset Golf and Country Club on Tuesday.

He was dreadful, worst player I have played with especially as the 23 was total rubbish

My wife once scored zero(yeah nil, 0, none, zilch) points off 36 in stableford at Austin Lodge golf club, never added up the shots. IIRC She did have a few(like less than 6 at a guess) that she had a putt for a point but didn't(and more likely she then 3 or 4 putted!!) Would have hated to have count up her shoots that day. However she still enjoyed herself and we easily kept up with pace of play on a society day.

The first time I played on a course at Hylands in Chelmsford, I remember on the 1st tee had 2 air shots, then lost a ball one right into long rough, and then topped the next one in play. Goodness me the score that day would have been interesting.

I mentioned this in one of the other threads a few weeks ago but in our Sept monthly medal a guy had about 125 net off 28. He shot 36 for the first three holes compared to par of 13.

Was also the longest round of golf i have ever endured, close to 6 hours

We have a lot of societies at ours and you find score cards left on the tables outside and have seen loads over the 150 mark.one had a 32 on the 18th.

Played with plenty of guys who said they shoot 85-90 and were well into the hundreds if they counted all of their shots, penalties and were slightly less generous conceding their own putts!

My first 18 hole scoring round I shot 119 but in February I had a day when literally nothing worked. Handicap was 13.6 and I shot 102 including a 54 on the back nine. Just lost total confidence in everything that day and mentally could not get it together at all. Did not have a single par. Next round I shot 82!

I would say there is a difference between a bad score and a high score.

I've been playing often with a guy who shoots 100+ and to watch him get better each time we go out is great. He has played some good rounds to score under 120. Kept the ball in play, played within himself and managed the course welll. Has taken 30 shots off his game since I met him 18 months or so ago.

Worst one in recent memory, maybe 5 years ago, was a 99 in a major comp playing off 9 or 10. very difficult conditions that my game at the time just couldn't cope with.

Needed an unlikely par on 18 to break 100 and I do believe there was a wee fist pump when I holed the last putt!
