What's the state of your greens currently?

With most of our fairways on chalk the grass is used to water deprivation...certainly in the summer watering is like pouring it straight down the plug.
I think the long term plan is to get the reservoir built and then get fairway irrigation going.
We wouldn't want the fairways to be lush like,e approaches or fringes but green enough to have a bit of give under foot.

Raining here in Monmouthshire today for the first time in many weeks. Forecast for several days too. Courses certainly need it.

I think it would cost us at least £500k minimum to put in fairway irrigation. But that's no good without a reservoir or somewhere to store water.

The amount we get from our bore hole keeps the tees and greens from deteriorating. We could do with a week of steady drizzle so it soaks in and doesn't run off the hard ground. Fairways are starting to burn up and some cracks are beginning to appear as well.

It cost £1m to replace our irrigation a couple of years ago. It was a pretty big job: 3 rows of sprinklers on each fairway, plus over 40 tee boxes, all the greens and 2 practice greens.

We're in the West of Scotland and though August has been a bit dry and the fairways have dried a bit it's still fairly green and raining again.
The summer as a whole has been a bit drier than average but not much. Last year it rained every day in August.
Can't see fairway irrigation happening.

Our greens were as good today as anything I have seen for years they are fantastic.

The rest of the course however is burnt to a crisp.
