What's so good about Mizuno ?

I was once told that Mizzys come with a shorter shaft (as standard off the shelf) because they are made for the Japanese.

Anyone know of this?

I have heard of this and just compared the 67's to the Titleist ZMs and there is a quater of an inch diff in length. That said I am 6ft 0inch and I have always used standard L&L Mizzy's and I have not noticed any problems and I would imagine anyone taller would go for a custom fit anyway.
 
Also it's worth noting that Mizuno is the only OEM company who's graphite shafted irons are properly swingweighted so they don't have to screw us with shafts and inch longer. This is only done by other companies because it's not cost effective for them to build different heads for graphite shafts. I don't know many people who use graphite shafted irons who suddenly grow an inch over night requiring longer shafts. :cool:
 
Mizuno are Japanese.

Golf club heads are made out of steel.

The Japanese know a thing or two about manipulating steel.

Quite simply, until you've hit them, you'll probably never get it truly. But when you do and it comes off the middle...phwooooaaaar.

Mizuno are the best feeling irons i tried! The mp600 driver feels great off the face, and the only thing I didnt like about the putter was that its a little light.

Apparently mizuno are making tigers clubs just now, well according to the guy who fitted me at the national fitting centre. He was the big boss man...but who knows.
 
I've had....um.....5 sets (i.i.r.c.)

Not all of them were exactly "quality" kit.... :)

Astrons - early cavity effort billed as suitable for anyone....not very nice and not very forgiving.....hardly got any marks on the MPF....... :) :D
Domino - US import cavity, more rounded than Astron and possibly better.
TP11 - glorious forged tour blades......awesome, but un-hittable!!
T-Zoid (early cast model from 1996?) - shocking......

Now
MX-900 - glorious forged progressive set......hailed as forgiving, but not as forgiving I suspect as other cavity sets I've owned...

I think the forged clubs look and feel pretty special. The lower end of the market is not to my tastes.

Incidentally, the rumour about shafts and lies has some validity. I can't say for recent models, but certainly the old models were often a tiny bit shorter than other makes and still, to this day, the irons are a degree or so flatter than most. In the current line up, a Mizuno 5 iron is 2 degrees flatter than a TM and 1.5 degrees flatter than a Callaway....supposedly to suit the smaller players market....

So, if you buy some.....get C/F......
 
T zoids. That was the make I was trying to remember. They were a cast club, a fairly heavy head and not that great. I use to get a really high flight and with my short hitting that was not a good thing. I think I traded them for a set of Wilson Fat shafts which didn't last too long before I saw sense and got some X14's

They got good though in the end, the Zoid range....and I suspect the higher end were always classy.

I swapped my C/F zoids for a fridge.....the fridge was actually more consistent.....

The 14s must have come in as I was going out (of the game).

I never looked at a set of irons for 10 years.....you can imagine how great everything looked to me in 2007, when my eye was stuck in 1996!!!
 
I play with mp30's and imo are the dogs go nads. They look great and feel superb especially when you find the middle, although i would say they are very forgiving.
They look very slim at address compared to some of callaways+pings offerings.

These irons are 5yrs old so i can't comment on the newer kit but i would like to think they've improved.

Overall i'm in the mizzy camp for long haul.

NB. Those MP67 look pure sex and i don't reckon i could hit a shot with them

Got MX17's and yes they are chunky but I was at the range with a guy who plays off 8 who uses Big Bertha Irons from about 10 years ago :(

The top lines literally looked like an iron they were huuuuuuge don't know if it was all like that in the 90's but they are ugly!

The MP67 is a work of art like an affordable version of the Muira's

I can't just look at any of the new irons without getting the urge i must have at the moment.

My pal plays with ping zings and they look very chunky at address but they do the job.
 
Stuart I'll wait until you buy some new toys then you'll have to get rid ;)

You wouldn't want them reminding you of how you cheated with a younger,sexier model would you :D
