What would you like to see improve at your course this year?
No Smiffy, nothing to do with barmaids please
do you have a pet hate at your club?
Slow play?
bad bunkers?
Rough too long?
Ropey greens?
Expensive food and drink?
Out of touch committees?
Uneven teeing grounds?
etc

And do you think they will improve any time soon?

To do away with tee booking times either at certain times (i.e. "block book" those times for members roll ups) or completely.

Other than that I'm pretty happy with the state of the course/club.

The rough does get long at key points on some holes which penalises a lot of members with a typical left to right shape. It is too long to make finding a ball easy (slow play) and too hard for a lot of players including the juniors, ladies and some seniors to play from

Some of the tees flattened off a bit, some of the holes lengthened. Bit more bunkering and rough grown up a bit like it was 2 years ago.
Maybe then the miserable old barstewards will pi$$ off and join another course and stop spoiling ours with their constant griping.
Golf isn't supposed to be easy.

The two main bugbears at our place are the tee boxes which have always been very uneven and the bunkers .

The tee boxes have been levelled (alledgedly!) and re-turfed since the end of last season, in truth they do look better, but some of them look a bit uneven still :D

The 17th green has always suffered from disease owing to being surrounded by trees and never really catching the sun and drying out, the green staff have put in new drainage around this green so hopefully it will improve.

The 7th fairway has suffered badly over recent years, with the grass disappearing most of the summer bang on a good drive length off the whites. This par 4 has been reduced to a par 3 for the last few months to enable the offending area to be re-turfed.

So the course is having plenty of work done to improve things - just wish they would sort those bunkers!

Does anyone's club have a suggestion box?

We used to have a suggestion book kept in the bar - after some (possibly drink fueled) suggestions it was moved to a place, hidden, in the secretaries office.

Id love to see our bunkers raked by green keepers early in the morning, this would help drainage no end. Our bunkers under the top inch are so wet its like the sand has sealed itself. any rain and it just lays in the bunkers. the best time to play our bunkers is about 3pm in the afternoon after all the players have raked them.

and less chavvy foookers dropping litter, gets right on my titties!

We get some really serious rough in the Summer - we're talking waist-high. Ok, it's a fairly poor shot that finds it but, Hey, we can all do that.
I've taken to just getting on with another ball - if I find it I won't be able to hit it so why bother looking...
But most will look, take their 5 minutes and walk back because they haven't played a provo!!
This slows everything down. We don't need rough that rough.

Level tees and smooth greens would be nice too!

Id like them to cut our fairways and especially the fringes of the greens less. Seems they are obsessed with it looking good from 50 yards away whereas they need to give the grass more chance to grow and take better, constantly shaving it back does it no good in the long term and leaves a hard bare surface to play off, the fringe on the putting green which they do once or twice a week is far far better condition than any on the course

We have a suggestion book in the lounge. All suggestions get replied to by someone on the committee in the book for all to see.

Not sure there is anything i would change at the moment, except for less bloody Societies during the week !!!! :D

Only been a member for a week so it's hard to comment specifically about Royal Ascot, but I'm gonna take a guess that I'll be moaning about the lack of repaired pitch marks and possibly racking bunkers - that's something I'd like to see changed at all clubs. I'd bet that at least 50% of players don't even carry a pitch mark repairer.
