what would you do if you saw a cheat

Absolutly disgraceful. At least cut a hole in your pocket. I wonder on a big club comp how many rules have been KNOWINGLY broken.? Played our comp final last month a a guy in my group tried to take a two club drop from a yellow stake. He was a 4 hdcp too
Confusus say man with hole in pocket feels cocky all day! Seriously though there are two forms of cheating, known cheating and lack of knowledge of the rules. If lack of knowledge is the cause then just telling the offender the rule is enough for me. Blatent cheating like dropping a ball is a no no for anyone. However how unpopular do you want to be by being the dobber? I know we should all be prepared to do it but I wouldn't want to be the person

I suspected a guy in a society I ran

Never, ever lost a ball, ever.

I found his lost ball and pocketed it, he "found" his ball and we finished the round

When we shook hands on the 18th I handed him his ball then told him to go forth and copulate, as he was no longer a part of the society.

I like this , I use to run society , one of the guys in our society always found his ball and always scored 40 points or more so one day my mate and me played with him and we said everywhere he went one of us was with him , very close by and watch all his moves , 28 points he came in with and never played again . In club comps I reported a group once , they always played together , we had tee off on the 15th at Knighton Heath in a medal and walked past them on the 14th green putting out and I not only heard him but saw one of them asked is that ok after he missed his putt , his mate said ok you can have that one , I look at my mate and said , did you see that , yes he said , anyway I reported it and the club secretary saw them when they came in , they did not have a great score and did not know you could not have give me`s in a medal , well you decide what you think ..................not knowing the rules is one thing and cheating as mentioned in other post is just not on , still you never stop it so I always report it and let the club secretary do the rest ..................EYG

This is a problem with non drawn comps. I must admit that the majority of our comps are drawn which helps those unsure of the rules and cuts out a lot of, at best, misunderstanding.

Would loved to have seen the look on the blokes face! Priceless

i will report what i have seen and let the powers to be sort out the rest

well if he wasnt in the comp then pretty much anyone on a bounce game who's well out a hole would just drop one, seems a bit blinkered view imo

You have to report it if you are 100% certain of the facts. If your partner saw it too that is a bonus as usually it is one persons word against another and it can lead to a nasty atmosphere in the 19th. There was a 4 handicapper at Wimbledon Common that use to play with two old guys in their 70's. He'd blast it miles but not always straight but by the time the two gentlemen had played down to where the guy had hit it, it was found, usually in a playable place and he'd never lose a ball.

Rumours had been going around for ages. In the end the captain and secretary followed him around and watched him pick the ball up from in the trees and drop it in a clear spot, kick it into play and break branches. They tackled him after and he wasn't seen again for months on end and then turned up bold as brass. Funnily enough he was paired with two different partners shot well in the nineties and disappeared again
