There is 2 guys on our course that always find there ball in heavy heavy rough and people decided to look at there balls on the tee both been caught cheating dropping balls. claiming they found it. today one of them got into trouble on the hole. they were a hole behind us but the holes run side by side. i was on the tee box waiting to drive off and i see him pull a ball out of his bag, drop it on the floor, then bent down and bettered his lie and take his shoot then one of boys heard him call out i was going to give up on that but i found it. it was a comp handicap qualifier also! shall i report it

And you are probably too late now.

But should still report it.

I'd have been tempted to go across and report what I'd seen anyway.

Some instances aren't so clear-cut, so may need confirmation.

Tread carefully. There is the possibility he had NR'd the comp and was just 'playing in', worth checking results first and if confirmed then you do need to say to an official so it can be monitored closely in the future.

The game is full of cheats and players who just don't know the rules and make them up as they go along... I've only played a few comps and decided early on that I was going to concentrate purely on lowering my HCP and not worry about winning the actual comp.

Absolutly disgraceful. At least cut a hole in your pocket. I wonder on a big club comp how many rules have been KNOWINGLY broken.? Played our comp final last month a a guy in my group tried to take a two club drop from a yellow stake. He was a 4 hdcp too

I suspected a guy in a society I ran

Never, ever lost a ball, ever.

I found his lost ball and pocketed it, he "found" his ball and we finished the round

When we shook hands on the 18th I handed him his ball then told him to go forth and copulate, as he was no longer a part of the society.

Providing the ball wasn't in the hazard then the drops fine but only within one club of the nearest point of relief. It's a common mistake

That's the way to do it :whoo:

If he's got a score in then YES. No doubt. Did your playing partners see and hear it also, although that wouldn't stop me as you don't just drop a ball and improve the lie unless he was coming back to where he last played a shot and lost the ball, but why would he say what he did.

I take it his playing partners were not near, were they not helping to find his ball.

they helped him look, he told them to carry on, when they were well out of sight he dropped it, one of the guys i played with spotted it. He is not happy either we pay to play comps in trust. Lots of guys will not play with him because of him doing such tricks. I caught him red handed

Well....that just about does it. If he has a returned score, good or bad then you need to stop him.
