Played with a mate yesterday afternoon at my new club, and this was how my score card looked...

1st Par 4....5/2
2nd Par 4....6/1
3rd Par 4....6/1
4th Par 4....5/1
5th Par 3....4/1
6th Par 4....N/R
7th Par 3....4/1
8th Par 4....6/1
9th Par 4....N/R
10th Par 3....3/2
11th Par 5....5/3
12th Par 4....4/2
13th Par 4....4/3
14th Par 4....N/R
15th Par 4....6/1
16th Par 3....5/1
17th Par 5....7/1
18th Par 4....5/1

Whilst most would agree that this is truly terrific and steady scoring, what I'd really like to know is what the hell happened on the first four holes of the back 9???
:D :D :D

Smiffy,

My round at the weekend was pretty bad aswell. I scored just under 30 pts, think it was 29, might have been 28.

For the first time in ages I didnt score on quiet a few holes and had I have been playing a medal I think i'd be looking at a score of about 120!

As a result I've gone from swinging with confidence and not thinking too much about my swing to now over analysing everything making my swing worse.

It's a shame because I've been hitting the ball so consistent for about two months and now this.....

Thank god its the start of british summer time, off to the outdoor range tonight to get this swing back.

Smiffy,

I'm wondering the same thing (see the missed opportunity thread). Out in 21 points and back in 15. Silly dropped shot at 10 with duffed chip and the worst hybrid on 13 you are ever likely to see. When you play it on Friday look to the right past the dead tree trunk and it was beyond that and further right on the edge of a ditch. Only about 30 yards offline (on a 170 yard shot).

Good news is Metcheck is saying 17 degrees and sunny. Course was playing well yesterday and the greens were putting well. It should look a picture in the sun

I hit one fairway on the front 9 yesterday and that was on the short par 4 4th where I hit my hybrid as sweet as a nut. Everytime I hit my driver I pulled it big time left, either into trees or crap. On the 9th I hit it fairly well, still pulled it but I thought I was going to get away with it... it went up the treeline and hit a tree square on, but still managed to go straight left OOB.
The 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th holes I proceeded to play in par, I've never got on the 13th in two before (long par 4 all uphill) but did it yesterday with the sweetest 5 wood I've hit for ages. Was too much to expect to sink the birdie putt the way I was playing but was really chuffed to walk off of it with 3 points. Then at the 14th the crap started again.
How can I play 4 holes like Phil Mickleson in amongst the crapola that made up the other 14 holes?

Played both Sat & Sun--Saturday off the yellows,in gale force winds scored 33 pts with two blobs, came sixth-winner on 38 pts.

Yesterday calm conditions 50 mins delay due to frost, playing off the whites, started on the 10th-2 balls OOB, blobbed 10th,11th,15th and 16th still managed 12 points on the other 5 holes.
Managed 18 points on front nine with a blob on the 7th--total score 30 points with 5 blobs--how frustrating.

came 17th with the winner scoring 36 pts.

Ummmmm, how about

You were swinging great but
  • you had an unlucky bounce
the sun was in your eyes
    the wind took your ball
the rain got in your eyes
a dog ran off with your ball
a squirrel ran off with your ball
a marmoset ran off with your ball
that bush wasn't there last week
    the rough has grown
there were shadows on your line
there were spikemarks on your line
that bloody dog came back again
that tree ran out and blocked you
your playing partner was eating popcorn on the green

Apart from that you played your 'A' game

( give me time and I can think up a few more excuses if you ever need them )
