Well at last my handicap sheet has sorted itself out......

Just been checking there and iv played in 38 competitions so far this season..... 13 of them iv had 0.1 back in and iv had cuts in 9 of them.....
That leaves 16 of them where iv finished in the buffer.....

There are still a few weeks left of competitions to be cut in but i hear a lot of people talk about these General Play cuts....
Iv had an ESR cut of 0.5 already this season but am i right in thinking that this is outside of general play cuts.....

The theory behind ESR is that General Play cuts should virtually disappear. There might be a case if a player repeatedly beats CSS or buffers and just falls below the ESR trigger.

Cheers Pal.... Sums it up nicely.....
Im guessing once your getting cuts then there isnt much need of a general play adjustment....

Indeed, and as Rosecott says, the ESR process should mean there is no need for the "Handicap Secretary's cutting on a whim process" otherwise known as "General Play" adjustments

Annual Review runs a report to highlight candidates for possible changes - up or down.

If you generally played home comps, it would be possible to simulate this calc. However, as you have so many away comps, it's a bit more complicated.

Bew. What was it with your record? Just case of receiving/accepting for the Away results? What was the story with the 4 missing ones?

Ya Pal..... They all came into the club system in one go yesterday..... No idea why....And talking with the Handicap Sec today he said never trust Howdidido.... That website is too slow.....

All the comps that i played away also popped up onto my main handicap sheet......So now i can see where all the adjustments and cuts were made..... Took long enough though....

I just have one more error now to track down... I played an open singles last monday at a course close to me and its up on Howdidido....Its got my round tracked shot by shot....
The winner had 38 points as had I.... But they have me down on the competition sheet as having 28 points...... The win doesnt bother me too much as checking the winners round he'll have me beaten on a countback anyway.... but if there was a 2nd place prize ill have lost out...

The other side is that this has shown up on Golfnet and is accurate...

You don't have to rely on HDID. You can report Away scores to your Home Club as soon as they happen - in fact, that is your responsibility.

Seems to me it's a bit of a coincidence that the 28 points on HDID is exactly the 38 you scored minus your 10 handicap! Not sure what's happened, but it's something you should contact the Away club about.

HDID does have the occasional issue as it's a step or 2 removed from the real system - the one on the club's computer. Some 'Transfer' actions occasionally fail which results in gaps in the history. Unless Handicap Secretary checks or is made aware of these - and resends - tHDID is out of date. And any direct alterations made to handicaps on the club system need to be transferred to HDID too.

Following this one up will be a bit of a chore though... The upside is that i know the assistant Pro at that particular club so i can get him to have a word also..... Some pain in the backside though.
