A friend has asked me to sell some clubs for him. I am putting them on ebay, and wondered what you think the starting price should be, and what I should expect to get for them. They are Callaway RH X16 steel heads 3-SW + Callaway FTi Square head 10* driver+3&5 woods. All in reasonable condition, but most will require grips by the end of the summer. I have had a look on ebay, but prices vary. Gentleman, your expertise is appreciated :D

I would be tempted to split into several lots, irons and woods as a minimum. Possibly irons, driver and fairways might sell better.

what he said

You can also offer them to Golfbidder and see what they would offer you. Double that should be what you can expect on ebay. Also, make sure to take good pictures of them. That really really helps to bring prices up on ebay.

No, golf bidder may sell them for twice what they are on ebay, but from experience, that's certainly nothing like they pay.

Your absolutely right, however this will be quicker and easier. I think the irons would sell quickly, but the woods may take a while, so I will sell as a job lot

I think you may have misread Capella's comment. She said expect to get twice what golfbidder offer you if you sell them on ebay (as a rough guide).

Fair enough but I think you are limiting your market considerably doing it that way. If you split into different lots you can include links to your other items so if somebody is looking for a complete bag they can purchase everything from you.

I know. But you will never get as much on ebay as a professional seller either, because you don't offer warranty and refunds. I would guess that Golfbidder pay you about 20 % of the price they later sell the clubs for. Double that and you end up with 40% of the Golfbidder price (or you can just look the clubs up, if they already have them and take 40% of that) and you roughly know what you can expect as a private seller.

Unless I have missed something, that is a USA site. I can of course change that to £s, but golf gear is a lot cheaper over there anyway.

Bobs your whatsit then

You were looking for starting prices, this gives you the low-mid-high resale values in the US. Its not a lot of rocket surgery to pick a starting price for ebay out of that lot

No it isn't and hasn't been for some years now.

15 - 20 years ago it was possible to pay the same number in dollars over there to sterling back here but now any difference is minimal.

In my experience you are a long way out. They gave me £150 for my burner2 irons and they had them up for £245
