Decided to play in a medal today after playing pathetic golf yesterday. In the end I shot a nett 67 off 17.4. I am over the moon about this as my recent form has been diabolical, but I can't help thinking what might have been.
For example, I hit a snap hook OB on the first, duffed a tee shot on a par 3 into the drink, and 3 putted 3 times. Had all those things not happened I would have shot sub 80 for the first time.....but I guess that's golf!

I thing the CSS was 71, so what should my H'cap be cut to now?

As I was onced advised, dont sit thinking what could of been, but what was had. Dont remember the bad shots (you will have them thats why you dont play off scratch) but remember the good ones (thats why you not off 28)

We could look back on every round and say, could of shot 1 over today if I hadn't of put second oob and 3rd through back, 5th over fence and 7th in pond.

Well done on your good score. To shoot 4 under CSS is very good, concentrate on that, well done!

Focus on the positives. You went in with a poor mental attitude and proved you could do it. I would guess that the bad shot on the 1st was due to nerves and telling yourself you'd been playing badly. I'm guessing that the bad shot at the par 3 was a result of standing there telling yourself not to hit a bad shot.

I wouldn't worry about the 3 putts as they happen especially as the greens aren't quite at their best yet. As long as there were some single putts to offset the 3 stabs I'd be happy.

Enjoy the glory of being cut and look forward to the next game of the lower handicap

Unfortunately today I was completely the opposite! Yesterday i shot five shots under my handicap of 17. When i started today's medile it was drizzling (rain) heavily and I started with two pars - triple-bogeyed the next - bogey - par and the remaining 13 holes is forgotten, although I remember it was pretty bad!!! :D

I must be weird then. :(

( Ok you could try disagreeing with me, you know )

But I always check every round to see what shots I genuinely wasted. I sit down after a round and call every shot I played, was it good, bad, etc.

It tells me what part of my game is most crap at the moment ( chipping, definately chipping - with putting a close 2nd )

And it tells me what score I'm capable of hitting. Like you say, I'm never going to hit it. But it means I should be able to slowly get nearer and nearer to it. Which is the incentive I need to keep practicing, and improving. If I only look at the positive stuff, I find I don't practice enough - rose tinted glasses and all that.
