What made you choose..

i have some Mizuno Tour Proven original blades that I got off ebay. I bought them as I remember going to Lillywhites in London, long before than @rse Mike Ashley turned it into a jumble sale and seeing these gleaming new shiny blades in a display cabinet and falling in love with them. I told myself that one day I would have a set of my own!

Of course, if 'that @rse Mike Ashley' hadn't bought them and turned it into a jumble sale, they almost certainly would have gone bust and disappeared!

I too, regret the demise of the iconic brand. But that's commercial reality! If your business model works, you survive/prosper. If it doesn't, you fail!

Ashley just happens to be a specialist at picking up brands whose business model has 'failed'!

When I felt my old clubs needed changing, or GM offered the chance for a fitting, I tried them all, and they were the ones I liked best and/or hit best. So I bought them.

Driver - GM fitting :)
Fairway - old faithful
2 iron - I can't hit hybrids
Irons - Trial and error
Wedges - looks/bargain
Putter - trial and error. About 300 trials!!!

My first set of blades were Sounder SBIVs, I've still got them altho in the loft now, got Titliest blades, then got Snake Eyes and now on Wishon. Think when I got the sounders they were different from what others were using and that's why I prefer independants to the mainstream.

had a set of the original Sounder SBs, were beautiful (albeit expect I only use them to butter bread these days!!!)

Driver- it was more suited to me as the old one was draw biased.

Wood- it was cheap

Hybrid- hit it on a demo day and liked it better than a 3 iron.

Irons- uncle saw them in his pro shop and got them for me as the were a bargain. Bought off David Seaman's son!

Wedges- I wore out my old ones practicing so much.

Putter, it fits my stroke and I was lucky I chose right first time after moving on from a 9.99 putter.

Driver; was really struggling with my last weapon. A fellow forumite was selling a SLDR really cheap, and the centre of the club face was unused - perfect

Irons; I foolishly went to a Ping demo day. The i20's were stunningly to hit. I fought the urge but Qwerty had a nearly new set of i25's in my spec - bliss

I got fitted and they the woods, hybrid and wedges were the best on the day. Had issues with the G25's and wanted I25 so found the best shaft and lie angle for me. Happy as I've been with my bag in years although the Titleist trial has sown a seed

Lots of trial and error to get to the bag i have now and I can say for the first time I am 100% happy with it all, which is slightly dissapointing as I search eBay and nothing really jumps out like it used to. . But I still search:mad:
