Three main objectives for me currently, play as many different courses as possible, play with new people where possible and enjoy/have fun on the golf course (doing better at the first 2 than the last one some times of late). The handicap is just a number, will sort itself out, as for comps if i play well ill win if i dont i wont

Social games with friends and now that I've got my handicap getting that as low as possible. I also just play for the enjoyment of the game and to get some exercise.

My main aim is to get my handicap down, however I do enjoy playing for the club, I also like opens as it lets me play other courses relatively cheaply and if I pick up a few competitions wins along the way, well that's very nice too.

Handicap as low as possible and enjoy myself in the process. Currently playing constantly in competitive golf and not greatly enjoying it.... need more fun social rounds. Bring on the Mac!

Enjoyment. Good company, nice places, nice lunch, glass of wine and lots of laughter with a competitive game thrown in.

I never think about handicap, don't care about board comps, have played for clubs and have no intention of ever doing so again and sometimes enter Open events but only so that I can play at a nice course with a mate. E.g. Hankley Foursomes for £25!

Playing with friends is very important for me but I voted for get my handicap as low as possible as that is the endgame for me.

For me the first thing is the social aspect, I’m a competitive person so golf fits in with that, so playing opens and lowering my handicap are two other facets of the game that fit in with the social side.

Having been a club cricketer for 20 years, Golf certainly beats sitting in a pavillion watching two umpires discuss the merits of coming off because of a bit of drizzle. Being out in the open air with friends, all trying to achieve the same goal standing on the tee and enjoying the round no matter what the outcome, is why I play - enjoyment! (plus it keeps me away from the ironing pile for that little bit longer)

I put Getting my handicap lower, mainly as that is what motivates me to go practice etc.

I mostly play once a week, knowing that I am playing on the weekend can get me through the day when work is crap. So having something to look forward to is another important factor.

For those who only want to get handicap reductions or win tournaments then guess what.

You need to enjoy it first! Fun is the biggest factor and should be at the top of everyone's list.

(its only taken my 20 years to realise this!)

I'll remind you of this the next time one of your clubs takes off

For fun.
I certainly don't want to be obsessed with winning comps or handicap reduction ( although nice if it happens )
I got obsessed with the above years ago and it led to me packing the game in for a lot of years because I wasn't enjoying it.

Chill, relax and enjoy it whether successful or not. :fore:

I was handicap and comps after my 1st win and cut but recently it has lost the fun factor so now just playing for fun and what will be will be regards the h/c & comp scores.

I picked social, but read it as fun. we don't play golf to earn a living. its all about fun fun fun. and if you win something its a bonus.

Yeah I should have put a 'fun' option in there but guess that is pretty much covered by social golf.

Didn't actually realise that people do this for fun though
