What is your idea of a golf shoe

Another here who owns similar to both.

Was talking to someone recently about how golf shoes have changed, understand the traditional, but prefer the lighter comfier newer options personally.

Currently I own:
Nike Tour Premium (traditional style, heavy, comfy once worn in)
Puma Cell Fusion (a more modern shoe, best all round shoe Ive had for many a year, still waterproof, comfy out of the box)
Ashworth Cardiff (modern spikeless rubber soled, extremely comfy but only useful on a dry day)
Nike Air Range (lightweight trainers with a half spike half moulded sole, comfiest shoe ever, summer use only imo)

Throughout winter I will wear the Pumas, in summer I tend to default to the Nike Air Range though if wet will either go to the Pumas or the Nike Tour Premium. Pretty much only use the Ashowrths to practise since buying the Nike Air Ranges. If I am playing at a course I perceive to be a bit snobbier then I either wear the Pumas or the more traditional Nike Tour Premium, not worth the argument wearing a pair of trainers with spikes in :)

Don't really see why it has to be a one or the other. If i'm wearing trousers i'm happy to wear a traditional shoe, but with shorts it'd be the more trainer style as a shoe type would look daft. Bit like wearing a pair of brogues with trackies...

Personal choice would for usual wear would be something like the Nike ones that have a shoe style with some modern flashes. But i'll be wearing the adicross shoes this summer when we eventually get some sun as hopefully i'll be wearing shorts a lot more. But if its like last year then I'll be looking for a pair of golf wellies!

A pair of they £5 black rubber things with kilties - my first 'proper' golf shoe. Rather dug into the underside of my ankles if I recall - did the job fine but would get a bit stinky in time.

Either that or a nice pair of leather uppers and soled FootJoy brogues

I'm with fundy. I have all styles, and chop and change with the weather, the venue, and the clothes. I have 13 pairs of golf shoes, so have most styles covered, from footjoy classics to addidas mesh tech response trainer types (very comfy if not wet).

As the title which out of the two would you sport on the course and why?

Lambda hand made Portuguese full grain leather brogue or

Adicross spikeless trainer type shoe

well the first pair would look out of place mid summer with light linen shorts, white short socks etc, and the second wouldn't make a lot of sense in a huge range of colour schemes........but in themselves I would wear either as appropriate to my chosen outfit.

Here's my shoes, kinda somewhere in between the 2 I think

I like some of the traditional shoes in that they look very nice but would most likely be so uncomfortable to walk round a course in

Thinking for summer I may invest in some spikeless trainer style shoes

Don't have a great deal of choice when your a size 13 tho :(

I quite like both but would wear the traditional style if I were attending a meet or playing a comp. a bounce game would herald the use of the less formal shoe

If I ever have the spare cash it'd be these...

But I'm not against the 'trainer' type shoes either. If I could guarantee the weather through the summer I'd get a pair as I think they'd help my feet, ankles and back.

I find trainers far more comfortable than shoes, but on the golf course I've always gone for traditional (ish).

I just don't think trainers look right with trousers. Think Phil Collins.

There is the right shoe for the right outfit. Chances are, if you don't like the trainer type, you've not got a pair of trousers or shorts that would look good with trainers, and same with the traditional type of shoes. I have a pair of FootJoy Traditional shoes and a pair of Nike Dunk trainers, and relevant attire to match!
