What is highest loft wedge you carry?

I carry a 56-14 SW for using out of bunkers which I am pretty steady with and then carry a 60-04 LW also.

That LW is fantastic for when you are around the green and you need to get it up and down quickly from a tight lie, with it having next to no bounce on it. I also love it from around 50 yards as I can play a nice controlled 3/4 punch shot with it that stops on the spot.

I am thinking of adjusting my wedge set up. As my PW is basically a 9 iron (44 degree) I carry 3 other wedges, a 50 degree gap wedge, a 54 degree SW and a low bounce lob wedge (great on tight lies around the green or for flipping a ball out of a bunker. These lofts were based on my old irons though and am tempted to go to a 48, 52 and 56/58 degree set up.

I carry a 54* & 58* and usually use the 58 as a sand wedge or around the green, the 54 hardly gets used and when it does it's only for the 50-90 yards out shot.

My PW is a 46 and use it for anything around the 100yd marker. I used to carry 50 & 56 vokey's but never used the 50, and did not have enough in the 56 for flop shots (over bunkers) Moved to MD Norman Drews and now carry a 52 & 58. Fing I've got better spacing in loft & distance now.

I carry 4 wedges My PW from the set then a 50,54 and 58 but must admit of the last three mostly use the 58 out of bunkers and the 50 around the greens the 54 is still almost new due to lack of use.

I carry a 60 which I really like, Ive put in quite a lot of practice with it and had a wedge lesson mainly focusing on how to use the 60 properly, its great for getting over stuff and if you hit it harder it only goes higher :) its the only club ive ever managed to get backspin with. I did carry a 64 and still use it at the range a bit, but I don't really like the design of the leading edge as I find it makes it hard to hit, its worth its money in comical value though ;)

I currently use a 52 & 58

Need to get new ones, both are well worn. I was thinking I rarely use the 58 deg. Just for bunker shots. I'm thinking a 56 deg might be enough for me. Or a 52,56,60 combination. But I don't think I'd ever use a 60 deg. Remember an interview with G Mac where he said amateurs should lose the lob wedge. my pw is 48 deg

Anyone here not carry a high lofted wedge? How does it work out for u?

48/52/54/56/60 Vokeys, only carry 3 in the bag usually NOT the 54 & 60.

Having a 45* PW, I use my 50 as my PW.
5 degrees between clubs is bordering on too far - you have to start making 1/2 or 3/4 swings and that complicates things for me.
I'd like to drop the 50 and 54 and put a 52 in as I feel I could use another club higher up the bag but that would leave nearly 2 clubs between PW and the 52.
Bit of a dilemma.........

I have SM4's in 52, 56 & 60.

They are fantastic.

I practise a LOT (4 hrs a week) with my wedges and am very confident with them.

If I couldn't find the time for practise with them then I would have to drop the 60 as it needs constant practise to keep the feel to use it properly.

My opinion only, each to their own.

Cheers

Steve...

I have 54 and 60, used to carry a 64 too until I reaslised that it would be easier to hit a marble with a carving knife that that club.....it now resides at the back of a cupboard in my garage if anyone wants it, they are welcome to it.

I used to carry a 52 and 56 but my PW is 45 and seven degrees was a massive difference. So I changed to 50, 54 and 58. I have been having short game lessons to help with my pitching and chipping. I think the interesting difference is that many on here seem to use their wedges around the green for chipping. I, like a few others, use mine for a range of pitch shots from 98 yards down as well as chipping around the green.

Lots of people like Bob say wedges are very versatile and you can open the face, choke down, punch it, flop it etc. I actually think it is easier to have four wedges and a single main technique and just change the club based on the situation.

Before changing to my current burners (from the burners circa 1997) I didn't carry additional wedges but with the new set the lofts are much stronger and there wa a massive gap at the lower end of the distance range.

I have added the 50 deg and 58 deg Vokey's and now use the 50 for anything 110 yards and in (similar to the PW in the last set). If I have trouble or need to stop it really quickly the 58 deg is useful but would not be my first choice unless really needed as the 50 deg is fairly solid off most lies.

I use my 60 degree wedge for most shots from about 50 yards. I hate my sw and pw and want to replace them with 2-3 wedges to fill the gap between my 60 degree and 9 iron. I would love to buy the same type as my callaway 60' wedge but have had no luck finding a set.
