I am getting married in September and as a result I am planning a pre wedding golf trip to somewhere a bit special (ideally either an old ryder cup venue, or open venue) but equally can somewhere with a great reputation like Hillside (or if we can find anything agreeable a long weekend in portugal).
What I am wondering is it better value to get the golf and accommodation sorted through an agency like golfbreak or yourgolftravel, or is it better to see if I can get golf deal directly with courses in question and then look for cheap accomadation from that point?
What are peoples advice when planning a weekend away. Also does anyone have any advice on venues? We have done the belfry and weren't that impressed, so lets rule that one out.
Also some of the group only want to have to drive 2-3 hours as a maximum from West Yorkshire, which rules alot of great courses, and ex open and RC venues.
