Yes, you will be. 135 is a high index.I was off 15.6 on Saturday and played off 18 shot a net 68 . Got dropped to 15.0 just presumed it would still be 18 . I not properly checked. Course slope is 135 off whites

I find it much harder than my previous course . Can’t just leather your drive , every hole driver needs to be in correct positionYes, you will be. 135 is a high index.
Sounds tough, where is it?I find it much harder than my previous course . Can’t just leather your drive , every hole driver needs to be in correct position
So you would round 4.1 to 5?Handicap Index. Rounded up (never down) to the next whole number.
I'll never have to, but yes.So you would round 4.1 to 5?
Neither of those is a viable reason to round 4.1 to 5. ?I'll never have to, but yes.
The OP seemed to be talking about being asked by (probably non-golfing) relatives and friends...
Oh you play golf. What's your handicap?
4.1
How can you have .1 of a shot?
[Long explanation of handicap index calculation follows, marking you out as a "typical golf bore]
Oh you play golf. What's your handicap?
4
What? Exactly 4? [questioner turns out to be a golfer]
Erm, 4.1 actually.
Oh, so you rounded it down. Nice one. [sniggers]
None golfers most probably have no idea that handicap equates to shots. They might know that golfers use a ‘handicap’ number as an indicator of ability in golf, with a low number being better than a high number, and so saying 4.1 is just as meaningful as saying 4. It’s a low number so you are pretty good at the game.I'll never have to, but yes.

Yes, but the other way round!!Does anyone else give the 'should be' number as well? "I'm off 15 but should be about 13 really." Based on nothing but your inflated self-worth. Guilty!
yep as mentioned above use your index. I'd only mention your playing handicap when you're on the course as this will vary depending on the slope of each course.
also, welcome back, hope you enjoy it!
