What foods should I eat to keep my energy up on the course?

Cashew Nuts, a banana and jelly beans in my bag - oh and plenty of water... it's lack of fluids that are most likely affecting your concentration and performance

Not read all the pages, but i am sure there are plenty saying pah its only a walk in the countryside or similar basically mocking anyone that eats on the course.

I really do struggle if i have not eaten well before playing, early tee times can make a tricky back nine. I start to feel weak and tired. I try and stick to slow release energy foods if i am on course for a snack, so banana or cereal bars. Try to avoid choc and lucozade type drinks as they give a quick hit, followed by a slump.

food levels, energy, blood sugars etc are all very individual, for someone to mock having to eat while walking 7k and whacking a ball is very narrow minded, we are all different and our bodies require different things.

I am 36 yrs old and pretty fit and healthy too.

Plenty of sweets in my bag at all times.

Very few refuse them even though everyone seems to be on a strict golfing diet.

A typical golf day for me (Food Wise)

Breakfast: 75G Oats, Skimmed Milk, banana, dried fruit and honey
Snack - 2 boiled eggs and a banana
Lunch - Grilled chicken pitta, homous, avocado, tomato and lettuce
Snack - Handful of nuts and a protein shake
Dinner - Salmon, brown rice and spinach.
Snack - Greek yoghurt with honey.
At least 2-3 litres of water.

Pretty much the same sort of diet I eat daily

Do people ACTUALLY EAT THAT healthily other than when they are on diets of some type?
Sounds like a diet sheet designed to impress the class

Hmmm..

Normal day

Whatever turns up between then and a G&T at 6 when I start cooking
Dinner at 7

Golf day
Coffee & OJ when up
Coffee x 4 on arrival, bacon roll, more coffee and lucosade at halfway hut probably beer and lunch mid afternoon.
Dinner may or may not happen.

On the odd occasion I'm out in the midday sun I will drink water.

I really can't believe some the things I'm reading on here. Come on, I mean, diet Irn Bru???? Whoever heard of such a thing? You'll be telling me next that they've invented something like vegetarian haggis ...

I stopped taking my half a spoon of granulated sugar in my tea/coffee and halved my weekly alcohol intake to about 8 units.
I also try not to eat anything after 7pm.
I found it surprisingly easy and lost my excess 7lbs in a couple of months.

Teeing off at 10:30 today. Just packed the snacks:

1.5l bottle of water,
Leftovers of a pack of cashew nuts (about 50-75g)
2 sweet clementines
A banana

Looking forward to lunch at the club afterwards.

Water is the most important item by far. Though if I'm playing over lunch, I'll bring my lunch...otherwise suffer from bad headaches on both counts.

Cheese and Jam roll/sandwich is the business for a 36holer or an Open.

Loads of junk in the bag. Bottle of water, sandwiches, crisps, sausage rolls and mars bars.
Doesn't improve my game but I am always cheerful.
