What foods should I eat to keep my energy up on the course?

I'm appalled for you mate.. You've really let yourself down there.. But the worst thing is that you've let the rest of us Nor'westers down as well.. I'd go so far as to suggest that this is almost as bad as turning up to an all weekend golf and booze session and drinking Lime and Soda!!!!

Yep, although the guy in question is a borderline, whinging southerner now.

I recommend a pie dinner, 2 rounds of sunblest bread and 3 pints of newcy brown.

There was mate... But at least he didn't pay for it though.. Some bald mug paid for it.. Oh!

In that case he should of at least ordered bacon & sausage too ;) I think he was too busy fending off that mithering Crosby Local who was on his 4th pint at 10:00 am.

Anyway.. Hobnobs (Dark Choc) close the thread:thup:

The pros eat bananas and drink water. I'm playing 18 tomorrow. I have a sausage roll, mars bar but I do have water. Bananas apparently give a steady release of energy rather than the sugar rush and downer of chocolate.

Just eat what you normally would at those times your on the course, but a little more fluids.

Most of us normally play over a normal mealtime but wait until we have finished to get a bite in the 19th. Why not try to eat your normal food intake during your round, no more no less you should be fine. If you usually snack just have a snack.

Like others say its probably not the 'starvation' the back 9 are probably in your hear, why not try starting on the 10th for once.

I tried that but the gravy from the roast beef & Yorkshire pud went all over the place.

I honestly can't believe these threads. A 3 hour slow walk with breaks every 2-3 mins and we now need a dietitian to get round.

Something to eat prior to playing, drink for mid round and a mini snack in case needed. As for choosing specific meals the night before such as pasta's  seriously...... 18 holes around a course built on massive hills ( Celtic monty ) or 36 holes then maybe, but most of us play in course with little elevation changes to even warrant this thought

Snickers and a bottle of lucozade from the pro shop may give me diabetes but keeps me from getting the munchies.

If I know I'll be playing over a mealtime though I enlist the services of Bear Grylls to get me through the hardship. He showed me how a SW is perfect to cut bark off the Scots Pines bordering the 12th so I can drink the sap.

I recomend getting lessons and a proper custom fit, will pay dividends in the long run.

Isn't that the stock answer to improving ones game:D

As a rule of thumb, I don't eat anything during my round.

I have a good breakfast before I set out and make sure I carry plenty of fluids.

I'll stick a Mars bar in the bag, just in case , but I never feel hungry during a round.

IMHO, the reason the pros seems to eat so much is they are often playing over 5 hours per round. 18 holes for me (two ball) takes less than 3.1/2 hours.

I always try to have a bottle of diet irn bru. Used to accompany it with a mars bar but I can't be trusted with chocolate so have cut it out completely.

Now I usually don't eat anything but might have a banana or a cereal bar or a sandwich.

The time I'm playing and whether it's 18 or 36 holes usually shapes my thinking in terms of whether I'll need anything or not.
