What does everyone do, job wise?

I'm a Parts Manager for a major car retail company.

I could complain, but I enjoy it most of the time, I must do I have been hard at it for fourteen years now.

45/50 mins to work and 40/45 home by car.

I am a bricklayer so struggle to get a regular game of golf in,money grabbing and that

I get out random times and a couple of medals if poss, played 3 times this week its a record

But thats yonks away Murph. In the mean time though I am looking fo a job, driving lessons won't pay themselves and I can only win so much money from golf :D

But you have the future to worry about, finding work, affording a mortgage, spiralling debt, a wife and kids who don't work, possible divorce, a receding hairline, fading fashion sense, nostril hair, ever expanding ears, creaking joints, aches and pains, constant moaning about life isn't what it was 20 years ago, and smelling of urine 24 7.
I've done most of them. What's next?
Death?
Becoming a TOG or reduced membership and becoming a senior?

My life story in one paragraph

This has been an interesting thread!

I have just finished working for 21 years as a printer doing every shift pattern you can possibly imagine.Recently been on 12hr shifts which were fine before I had kids.I have never enjoyed it but it pays really well so have felt trapped in it for a quite a while.Had a 15 minute motorway commute to work.

From Monday I start working for myself doing refurbishment on golf equipment,as well as club repairs and probably car parts in the future.
Commute is 20 strides to my garage. :D

Work as a postie/driver for Royal Mail,10mins drive to our office, then 2 hours sorting, followed by 3h.40 mins walking my beat delivering all your bills ha ha, doing a collection last night 5.20pm strong wind took the drivers door out of my hands and a double decker smashed into it... right mess. :(

Being a postman is a great job for a golfer. Home at lunchtime, the rest of the day on the links. I'd love it! I've done jobs where you're up at 5 and finished by lunchtime. You can't beat it.

My new job is manager of a team of Project Managers, Service Managers and Contracts managers for a large financial services organisation in Southampton. My commute has gone from 15 minutes each way in my old job to an hour each way in my new one  but my hours have dropped from 50 a week to 35 (so far!) :)

Work for a TOC (train operating company) as out station fitter in Manchester. I work on a 4 week rotary, week 1 work 6 days, 2nd week on rest days all week, 3rd week only work 4 days, 4th week only work 3 days if no one is on annual leave, loads of time on to play golf, must be doing something wrong as I have all this time of work and still play of 14???. car when on earlys and train when on lates both about 25 mins.

I am a partner in a law firm specialising in residential and commercial conveyancing.

Since moving to this position my commute is a good hour and a half in the car every day so am looking to move nearer to work.

Chief Officer Dive Support Ship working in the Arabian Gulf off Qatar. 42 days on/42 days off. 12 hours a day 7 day week when at work. Commute is 3 1/2 hrs to LHR overnight 6 1/2 hr flt ,overnight in hotel then 15 hour boat ride, return is better as I dont have to overnight at LHR and of course travel is only every 6 weeks.

42 days off is excellent as I can do what I want with my time and do not even need to think about work.

I work some very odd shifts. Essentially, Rotating days & nights, with rest days in between. Handy in some ways as it means I can take out a 5 day golf membership instead of the 7 day, most mortals have to, to get their golf in.

Only problem is like tonight, I'm stuck in night mode, even on my days off.

Could really do with getting something else to do jobwise, if I could find something that paid enough to make ends meet.
