Well just got back from my first flightscope fitting for a new titleist 910 driver.

Tried the 10.5* D2 in a neutral setting with a alida regular shaft, a diamana regular but slightly haeavier and then a diamana kai'll 65 mid stiff shaft.

I hit the alida pretty well at first with a swing speed around 90mph, ball speed around 120mph and a overall distance of roughly 210yards.

Then i tried the Diamana in regular but a slightly heavier shaft think it was 72g, i didn't like this at all, although i was hitting it slightly further, around 220yards but i was spraying it left and right and couldn't seem to find the middle of the club at all with it.

Then my pro suggested trying the diamana kai'll 65 stiff shaft just to see how i hit it even though my swing speed wasn't really in the stiff catergory.

First drive i pretty much nailed out the middle with a slight fade, and this continued with the rest of the shots. It felt like a completley diffrent club with the stiff shaft and even when i really tried to leather it it still performed really well and never turned into a big push slice which normally happend when i try to knock the paint off it.

My swing speed even slightly increased with the stiff shaft, going up from around 90mph to 95mph. My disspersion was around 13yards right. I didn't quite hit it as far as the heavier diamana regular shaft but everything else was so much better.

What was the biggest shock of all though is i compared my mizuno mx700 which i thought i hit pretty well, turned out to be the worst one on the feedback from the flightscope. Even though it has a slightly closed face, i hit this further right than the titleist which was set up with a square face.

So i've orderd the 910 D2 10.5* with a standard length diamana kai'll mid stiff shaft. Should have it in 5-7 working days and i can't wait. :)

Distance isn't everything and I'd rather be my normal 230 yards off the tee and on the fairway than 300 yards and OB. Whisper it quietly but my driving is one of my best facets so far in 2011 and has just clicked (unlike my irons, chipping, putting and bunker shots)

Yeah it really is an impressive thing flightscope. It's amazing how much info it gives you. The spin rate and launch angle was higher than my pro wanted but the flight scope showed that it's because i have abit of habbit coming back in too steep on the ball and causeing it to climb too much and it's robbing me of some distance.

I'm just going to have to try resist messing around with the settings on it too much as i'd rather leave it in neutral and learn to strke the ball better than have the club mask my bad shots too much.

I'd settle for short and straight off a driver too. 70 yards back on on the fairway puts you in a better fairway wood or iron position than try to hack out of the rough.

Now, if I could just DO what I THINK I'd be half decent!!

Depends how wayward you are. I'd rather be hitting a wedge from the semi rough than a mid-long iron from the fairway. If it's in nasty rough then fair enough, or only 20 yards difference then fair enough but if it was 70yds then I'd take the rough every time as long as it's hittable.

Did you try it with a slightly lower loft to try to get rid of some of the backspin?

I wonder how many of the 300 yard bombers on here have actually been on Trackman ( which JustOne posted about ) or flightscope probably not mant as they would she how much cack they blether.

A nice looking club fella hope you get on well with it.
Just watched a Taylor Made clip from Torrey Pines Dustin Johnson was told to stop hitting his R11 on the range as it was going right thru it.

Nah just tried it set in neutral as my pro would rather work on my swing to not come in so steep but he said when i get it to give it a try in the diffrent settings to see what happens but in a ideal world he would like me to leave it in neutral and work on my swing more.

I don't understand that, sorry.

Why not buy MP-68's and work on your swing?

Even without the adjustability, drivers come in different lofts for a reason. One size doesn't fit all.

Good luck with your new driver though. I like mine and I can't hit it consistently yet. I'm going to love it when I get used to the small differences to my last one.

steve
i`ve warned the guy`s down the range that ur coming with the `beast` and there shiftin the fence back !!! lol :D

Have they enough room mate or will the range get a call from the hotel about smashed windows :D :D :D

Well my pro said there wasn't much point going down to the 9.5* as lowering the loft down to 8.5* would be too extreme but getting the 10.5* it gives me the option of lowering it to 9.5* or going up to 11.5*

Hope that helps make it abit clearer

A little bit, not that you have to justify anything to us (or me).

It can be adjusted for loft in 0.75 increments, 1 down and 2 up, so your 10.5 can go from 9.75 to 12

The thing is, if you mess around with the settings, how will you know what it does to your launch angle / spin rate / carry distance without the aid of the flightscope?

Well I'd rather lash a drive 495yds be hitting from the green side bunker (more control than from the rough) :D :D :D

... ooh... are those cornflakes?

Exactly right. Anyone who doesn't want more distance is fooling themselves.

Unless you have OB on EVERY hole, join another course if you have!! :D

When i get my driver my pro said he is going to give me a lesson but using the flightscope and maybe try lowering the loft a little if i still struggle to keep the spin rate and ball flight down due to coming in too steep but he would rather me work on my swing and try keep it set in nuetral.

When i first started playing i thought i hit over 250 yards easy but over the last 6 monts or so i really took note of my yardages and i reckoned i hit it around 220-230 yards maybe 250 on my sunday best so i wasn't too far off.

What really suprised me the most was how bad my mx700 performed compared to the titleist. I always thought i drove pretty well with it, i must admit i didn't hit it that well on the flightscope testing but even my worst drives with titelist were giving better disspersion rates than my good ones with the mizuno mx700.
