What Do You Eat Whilst Playing

Make my own 1L bottle of low calorie, no sugar squash up, crazy prices for water in Pro shops and I'm off the sugar drinks. At weekends it's always a sausage batch at the halfway hut, if playing in the week I'll sometimes have a banana if there's 1 in the fruit bowl, otherwise nothing!

Usually it's a sausage sandwich and a coffee up the first then work my way through an assortment of Mars, Snickers, Haribo with a couple of bottles of Lucozade Sport. Might bung a banana in there to keep things a bit healthier.

nothing, if feeling peckish before might grab a mars bar on my way out, suprised some people can lift their bags, how long are some of you out there for, its a game of golf not a trip to the antartic.

Return of the dreaded food thread...

I have four Pina Colada's, a haunch of venison and a tube of bostik. Brown bag optional.

Couple of bottles of water, banana pre round and another round about the 9th. Don't necessarily eat these for energy but to prevent the aching legs post round. Always like a fruit and nut mix and occasionally a chocolate bar.

If the father in law plays, he always makes ham and mustard sandwiches, throws in a sausage roll and a Mars bar. Not my ideal choice but I'll eat most things if I'm hungry.

I even found my self putting a small flask of coffee in over the winter when it was cold.

Cider x 3 bottles (take a frozen 500ml water but its there to act as an ice pack for the cider so don't always drink it)

Don't usually eat but sometimes grab one of the complimentary giant cookies at the halfway point

Water and Eat Natural bars - a guilty pleasure.

Sure I saw somewhere that bananas are not good if you are already stressed as they are like "adding petrol to a fire" as far as the body is concerned.

Depends what time of day I'm playing.

If I'm playing through lunch, water and a cereal bar. Otherwise it's just water.

Don't need much, it's only a round of golf. :)

At a county training session recently we had a talk about nutrition. When I ran marathons it was essential but I paid less attention to it for golf. Then I heard the phrase "marginal gains" (a la Sky Cycling) and now pay more attention to what I eat and how much I drink on the course. Key is to maintain steady blood sugar levels as much as possible.
