Following on from Tashy's excellent thread about things you'd miss from dear old Blighty, what do you crave when you go elsewhere and miss when you get home?

From the States, it's Nilla Wafers. I always bring about four boxes of the things home and they don't last very long. Same with Peppermint Patties.

Big prawns that you can bbq (that wont cost £1 apiece)

Less a shop thing but buying churros from a stand in an evening and wandering around a town/village eating them.

Sorry, no branded food items.

Proper French saucisson. Went on a skiing holiday a couple of years ago and took a spare suitcase. Spent close to 300 Euros on saucisson and cheese and filled my suitcase to bring it home.

Yorkshire puddings. Living here its very difficult to find anywhere that does do proper Yorkshires.

It would have been fresh calamari, not the rubber version, but I can get amazing calamari out here. And @LT, you'd be amazed at the prawns here!

Honestly, not that much. Local produce of various countries is great but not much on the way of branded stuff.

Barbecue lays crisps are good, wadadli beer is very nice but nothing I cannot find an equivalent of over here

Pizza Margherita from a little trattoria in Capri. Unbelievable, never had pizza like it.

A dirty Gyros from a street vendor in Corfu. The best kebab I've ever had. Probably 0 out 5 for food hygiene, but delicious!

How classy do those two make me sound? Despite loads of research, never had pizza or kebab come any where close.

Proper:
Bockwurst
Bratwurst
Currywurst
Frigadela
Dortmunder Beer.
I get some of this stuff from the German store next to work at London Bridge station, some at Lidl, and even Tesco does an OK German Bratwurst.
When I visit home I get the family and in-laws to do proper local food as well such as Knipp, Labskaus, Kohl und Pinkel. And proper Bratkartoffeln.

Can you not make your own yorkshire pud? Tjis is about stuff you miss, not stuff you can just do at home?

The Lidl stuff is not bad. I have eaten Wurst.
