• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

What constitutes a good season?

19 qualifiers played, 11 x 0.1's, 6 buffers and 2 reductions only.

On the upside, the changes I've been making in conjunction with the lessons are starting to bed in so hopefully one good score in one of the 7 qualifiers I have left will get me back to where I started the season and in a good place for next year.

Ive played 6 Q's and had 6 +.1s but had a great time so don't really care haha!

These are my first 6 comps as I have only been playing a year but I've started playing quite well in recent weeks so I'm hoping I perform a bit better in the next comp in 2 weeks!

16 comps this year.

10 +.1s, 3 buffers and 3 cuts.

Down from 18.6 at the beginning of the 2016 to 14 now and have easily played the best golf I have ever played this year. Would like 1 more good comp before the end of the season but there are only a few left at my course.

For me, its been a good season.

Score wise.......Toiletter

Started on 7.3 and am now 7.6.

8 x 0.1 (5 of which missed buffer by 1 shot !)

4 x buffers

1 x 0.4 cut in my last competition.

Just as i'm starting to play well the weathers going to turn crap and i'm not going to swing a club for a week and a half.

That said, i've played some phenomenal courses this year........Trump, Carnoustie, Ganton, Murcar and really enjoyed my golf.

Mine isn't bad, but I'm not happy with it:

7 x 0.1's
5 x buffer
4 x cuts for 1.0

So a handicap reduction of 0.3, thus far.

But my play has been such that I feel I should have done better - too many good starts ending up in the buffer.
