I was teamed up with Triggertech in yesterdays Medal round for the first time since he'd joined Hassocks.

Good company and a pleasure to go round with. He pulled of this shot that no high handicapper should even dream about.

It was on the SI 1 par 4, that has a diagonal ditch that cuts across the fairway - the further right your drive is the less chance there is of getting over. Steve (Triggertech) pushed his drive right and into the rough.

The usual shot is to chip one over the ditch, safely on
the fairway with anything from a pitching wedge to a 7 iron. I said to my other playing partner as he pulled his rescue club, " he's never going to go with that is he?" Because he had to hit over trees and bushes with the run out of ditch below, and also if it went too far over there is more trouble waiting.

Well, he hit the shot, over the trees with a bit of left to right and landed on the fairway just a chip and run from the green.

So, well played Steve, and I'm sure he won't mind me saying that once he gets his driving sorted, and with probably the best short game I've seen from a 28 handicapper, his handicap will soon come tumbling down.

Not taking anything away from TriggerTech, but the best shot I have ever seen anyone play was Craphackers recovery shot on the 16th at Chartham Park one day.
Dogleg left, where you drive down the middle (hopefully) and then hit over a lake to a green protected on the right hand side by a big oak tree. It's quite a testing hole at the best of times.
Clive had sliced his drive out to the right and was on the banks of a water hazard a long, long way from the green. He hit a wood (can't remember which one now) and it cleared everything, the lake, the tree and finished up a "tap in" from the hole. If a pro on tour had hit that shot, it would be replayed over and over again.
