What’s your favourite major

That’s not much different to golf on a links course, you can hit the middle of a fairway and get a random bounce into a pot bunker or deep fescue. Or off a green into a pot bunker.

With good distance control and planning it is actually far less likely.
Tiger Woods went round Birkdale to win it for four rounds without finding a bunker..
There are areas where finding a bunker is more likely than others Generally speaking everyone will know the parts of a green which can kick off to a bunker and those that won't it is about planning your shot and not getting too greedy for pins. Its actually part of what makes Links golf a great watch for those who like it.

I've never got this focusing on Majors. It's a golf tourney.....just golf. If the Gods that be start calling the Arizona Phoenix Open a major.....is that all it takes? If I had the choice of winning a number of regular golf tournaments or 1 Major.....I'd take the money and wins of a number of regular wins.

There are a LOT of really good golf courses out there.....I won't be playing any of them since they likely cost a fair bit.

Well the Majors are what they are for various reasons, they offer the most prestige and generally attract the highest quality fields.
It's what the best golfers aim to peak at.
Generally you will see the largest amount of high quality golf played at a major and most have a sense of occasion.

You can watch perfectly decent football at the Auto-Windscreens cup but most will prefer to watch and win the World Cup.

I love The Open, it's the oldest and played on some of the best courses in the world. I like The Masters I think mainly because it starts the golf season for me. But, I think The Masters is so tricked up and most of the traditions are nauseating to the point it detracts from the appeal for me. The US Open is a test of character and ability on very difficult layouts. I would love if the PGA could be changed to an event that travelled the world, I think golf would be enhanced with a global major.

I put the Masters simply because it is played on the same course every year so I know the holes and what is a good and a bad shot.

In terms of viewing I probably watch more of the Open because I prefer the TV coverage of it compared to American golf.

That's what ruined this year's for me. Quite happy to see them punished with long grass for wayward driving. But when they've hit a green that's made of glass, the ball just trickles off and the ball disappears, that's not fair, or fun to watch either. The players who have a great short game don't get any advantage from it because everyone is just hacking it into the green in that scenario. So all four days you never get to see one nice chip shot.

The thing about that course is that the only real obstacle is the long grass. Without it the pros would probably tear the course apart, not what the UGSA want.

If I could change my vote to least favourite Major it would be definitely the Evian.

Like the Masters it’s the only one played at the same course, but unlike the Masters I really dislike the look of the fiddly course with most holes having extreme side slopes.

I’ll second that. It also looks exceptionally narrow
