My view changes throughout the year. After the winter drought, the masters is a must watch every shot, I’m off limits for 4 nights, it’s the big one.
But once that fades and the open is around the corner, it’s the open for me. It’s for lots of reasons, but the main ones are the courses, the sounds (you can tell the difference between a crowd at the open versus any other tournament), the variable conditions requiring different shots and the history.

Not much of a golf watcher but I prefer the masters, mainly because it’s always at the same place and I know the course and let’s face it the fans are less “Yee Haw” than other US venues.
I genuinely feel that weather effect at the Open (not all venues) and how what side of the draw you are on the first 2 days makes it less engaging as pure competition.

I’m surprised by the love for the Masters. It looks spectacular, well the flowers and ponds do, but there are too many stupid greens and punishing run-offs for me.

I think it's the Masters. The fact it's at the same course every year means there's so much relatable history and so many memories every time you watch it, that just accumulate over the years. The fact it represents the 'start' of the golfing season in the UK is a big factor as well - golfers are full of optimism at this time of year. The Open now being the last major of the year (already) brings a tinge of sadness with it.

But the beauty of these is that we all know them like the backs of our hands, because we see it every year. Seeing the pros fall foul of the run-offs time and again is cinema.

US Open can be a good watch, depending on the course and who is up there.
PGA, is not a major for me. I’d like to see it ditched in favour of a major that was played in mainland Europe (or UK), Australia or Asia that moved around.

The Open, but I don’t think it’s played at the right time of year. The Masters is just the start of the majors .. but to be honest it’s a putting/distance competition and it’s an elitist course .. so who cares I only watched it because it was on terrestrial TV. The other majors I have not even bothered with they are just hyped tour events

Agreed, the old order was much better. PGA Champs last, since that is the one that people care about the least. At least that gave it the distinction of being the pros' last chance to win a major that year, if they hadn't won the others. Sitting 2nd in the calendar it just has nothing going for it at all.

Presuming the OP meant the Masters, that is my favourite.
Followed by the US Open, especially when it visits a more diverse type of of course as it has more recently.
Then The British Open, occasionally interesting when the weather is awful, but it pretty much looks the same every year.
Then the PGA, it’s ok.
