• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

We're all suckers for it. Best and Worst....

Best, my second hand Callaway X18 irons - got me into this game :)

Worst, probably my driver by it's still in the bag! Sometimes I can hit it and sometimes not - maybe I should have tried a few more out instead of buying without trying!

Best Buy: Callaway Big Bertha 3 wood - I could hit it further than i can hit my driver now. I almost cried when it broke on a hidden stone. Bought others to replace it but they were never the same.

Worst Buy: Ping Eye 2 1 iron. Tried my friend's (who was off 2) whilst out playing. Hit a perfect 220 yard draw with it. Thought "Wow! I've got to get one of these."

I did and I literally have never hit a decent shot with it. It went back in the cupboard very very quickly. Where it still resides today.

Best buy has to be my 18* G10 hybrid it miles but my worst has to be an early version of the mizuno fli hi driving iron.

I dont know why i bought it but i did.

Best buy would be my 909 D2, which cost me £70 and its the first driver i have ever felt comfy with :).

Worst buy would be my Dunlop 3 wood which had a whippy as hell shaft(like a hose pipe )

Best buy was my current TM Rossa Corza Ghost. It has totally transformed my putting.
Worst buy, Powersphere Driver by Burrows golf. My club had a demo day showcasing them, I bought one for 300 quid! Fool!

Best Buy - my first Ping G2 driver, fantastic club

Worst - Ping G10 driver and 3 Wood. Both had V2 shafts and I just couldn't hit a good shot with them. Went back to the trusty Aldila NVS!

Best - TopFlite Tour Irons from the mid-90's. Fabulous clubs.

How good were they!!

I used to love mine.

Best - Finally getting some X100 shafts in my irons and wedges.

Worst - Thinking a Z-Star was a good premium ball last summer.

Best would be my old Callaway FT-iQ Driver, it really helped that part of my game or Vokey wedges... I love them!!

Worst would be my TM Burner 3 wood, it was an inpulse buy and I was already to strong for the shaft in it.

Best - Although I'm happy with all my purchases since re-taking up the game, I have to go with my MP-57's. Loved them since the moment I first hit them.

Worst - Really can't think of anything off the top of my head but if I had to choose - my Nike SV Tour 60* Lob. It's a great club, but lacks the versatility of my two Mizzy's.

Best: Matrix studio 64 shaft for my driver

Worst: Just an assortment of clubs that got me through till I got a proper set, not that most were bad (I loved the mizuno fli hi driving iron I had) but ended up not being in my current bag as time and technology has moved on

I have a nice brand new Mizuno MPT10 60 degree lob wedge, that would be just right for you. Not having it though. ;)

Sorry, I only play with the the better quality MPT-11's not the cheaper, inferior clubs they replaced :D

But in all seriousness, I'm questioning whether to remove it from the bag altogether and stick a 5 wood in there to bridge the gap between my 3 wood and 3 iron.

Best Buy - my first Ping G2 driver, fantastic club

Worst - Ping G10 driver and 3 Wood. Both had V2 shafts and I just couldn't hit a good shot with them. Went back to the trusty Aldila NVS!

Those proforce V2 shafts are as stiff as a poker.
I was sold a titleist driver with one and I must of lost 40 yards.
I was told it was the shaft for me by one of the knowledgeable staff at American golf :D
