I am considering going for a driver custom fit session at Wentworth TaylorMade Performance lab as I want to get either the M1 or M2

Has anyone used it in the past? Driver fitting is £100 apparently, but it looks pretty slick. Any opinions from someone that has tried them?

I've been and was surprised that they had less shaft and head options than the belfry. The belfry don't own or run the tm side of things. Tm rent the space. It seems they sent all their equipment to them. May be different now though

That's interesting... although I assume that was more to do with a full iron fit rather than the driver? Did you have an iron fitting? Did you feel like it was helpful / enjoy it?

I have had a similar fit with Precision Golf and felt it was a waste of time. I don't want to waste my money again

That surprises me, why is that?

I posted about it on here at the time, but basically I hit my 6 iron for about 20 shots. He then seemed to make a judgement based on the results what set of irons would work best for me in terms of shaft and loft etc, that didn't feel overly scientific to me so immediately reduced the choice from 100's to 3 or 4 that met that criteria. He offered me 3 or 4 so I could then pick a couple I liked the look at aesthetically. I hit a few shots with each of those and that was my custom fit. This was all decided from an indoor trackman, hitting into a net off a mat and never with the complete club, i.e. a head without the shaft I was recommended, the shaft against a different head with a different grip. Just felt like it was a waste of time for me.

No it was the m1 fitting opportunity i won on this forum. They didn't have many shaft options and only had 1 10.5 degree head that had a slight dent in the face. They didn't have a replacement head available.

I think due to the central location the belfry has to offer the full options. I use the range at the belfry alot and the room is alway in use. taylormade must sell alot of clubs from there

Golf Principles...

I recall your Precision Golf post and I must admit my experience with them in trying to get comfortable with having a fitting was very poor but the direct opposite with GP.

Well I would be pretty (slight understatement) disappointed if I had paid out £100 for a fitting and that was the experience... Hmmm not sure now.

Is Golf Principles hitting into a net indoors? I had considered them after your post on here. Are you still happy with the driver they fitted you for?

Yes it is. Happy with my driver, went on to get hybrid, long irons, irons, wedges, tshirt.... Its all a awesome. I guess I had 4 or 5 fittings there. No silly charges and a guy who really knows his stuff!

If your even in two minds call and talk to Jason... he is kinda famous for being very straight talking and will happily talk you through whatever.

In the interests of fairness I have been fitted by Precision Golf for driver, 3 Wood, hybrids and irons and had absolutely no complaints. I tried numerous shaft types and heads (for the irons) and never felt as though I wasn't getting the choice. I must admit I always assumed that some of the fitting would be reliant on the expertise of the fitter on the day as they have so many shaft/head combos that you physically cannot try everything.

Ye you would not even want to try everything. For sure the fitter starts to put you in a box of "that type of golfer" so maybe someone whos flight is x and move from the top is y and speed is z and so on. That is a big part of the game. They need to work you out and know their shafts.

Fair enough, this wasn't a post to bash Precision. I was primarily interested in the TaylorMade PL as it looks very slick, with the suit you have to put on to get your swing etc. Was mainly after a review as there aren't many about
