Well done Celtic

Re: A simply ludicrous result.

I would expect he may go in the summer and for at least £8m. A great piece of business for us and something more clubs in Scotland need to start doing more and more to function well. That and producing some decent youngsters which is only happening a a few clubs at the moment.

Yip I expect Ryan Fraser to net Aberdeen £20 million next season!

Why is it good business, surely keeping hold of him and putting a few more round him and turning Celtic into a regular champions league side, is better business.

Seperately, UEFA see it as better for football if they put yard high advertsing hoardings around the pitch, which stop the view of the first 4-5 rows in most stadiums, even if it means that 4,000 less people see a football match.

Great win for Celtic, and could have had one or two more, from what I saw.

Dodger, with them beating Spain's finest, does that mean that the Spanish league isn't the best anymore.......I wonder who could replace them..........

Sadly the SPL is not a vastly over rated league where stock rises for completing two passes in a row. There is only so far a very good player like Victor can go in the SPL. Scotland will always be a "developing" country and we will need to sell the best players on.

Maybe, but how will you ever develop if you never try to hang onto the better players and progress. If Celtic can win a European trophy with players all within a forty mile radius, what is to say that they couldn't build something again. Look at Notts forest, Alaves getting to the UEFA cup final, Steau bucharest winning it, Greece winning the European championship etc.

Scotland does not have the finance or the competition to sustain what you talk about. Its pipe dream stuff now.

Money, sadly, has too much effect on football now, so you are probably correct, but if you accept mediocrity, that is what you'll get.

Celtic have a ground like Ajax, a similar support and possibly a similar income and they haven't done too bad over the years, if they competed to at least the group stages for 3-4 years on the run, who knows? In the last 10 years Celtic and Rangers have both been to Europa finals.

Re: A simply ludicrous result.

Not 100% certain but i am sure Sevco are up to date with Wallace payments are they not?

Regardless the route of the problems lies within.

Dodger you are correct in saying that Rangers are up to date with Payments for the Wallace Transfer.

Doon has said before that hearts problems (failure to pay wages last Xmas) have been partly due by Rangers failure to pay the Transfer fee. Yes Rangers were 2 months late paying the June instalment and if Hearts encountered money problems during the off season then yes RFC could be to blame but only then.

RFC Still have 800k to pay and the next instalment of 300k is due at end of January and the final 500k is to be paid next June which is all in accordance with the original agreement. So Hearts current situation is no way down to RFC failing to pay. There are hundreds of Hearts fans moning that RFC are still due them money but they should maybe look at their own club for structuring the deals this way.

Doon is correct in Green has tried to knock £300k of the transfer but what he hasn’t said that he has offered 500k to settle the transfer now, which he is under no obligation to do and the money would be in hearts bank this week if they accept. This is pretty standard for most business trying to get discount by settling bills early, I see this all the time in my work. In fact Green may be better not making any offer as if Hearts could go down the tubes he may reach a better deal with Hearts insolvency practitioners.

Hearts are of course under no obligation to accept his offer and Romanov has turned it down. The money would finally have settled Hearts HMRC debt in full and stopped the winding up order. With Romanov turning it down means only 2 things a) he will stump up or he thinks he will find the money from elsewhere or b) he just doesn’t care anymore and will let them be liquidated.

One thing is for sure is that HMRC have had enough doing deals over payment of this debt and it doesn’t look like there will be any negotiations this time.

Re: A simply ludicrous result.

Alaves getting to the UEFA cup final

Celtic have been in a recent UEFA cup final, in 2003 where they were cheated out of it by Jose Mourino's Porto. They were diving more than Karl Doeniz's U-Boat fleet.

Anyways, as I hibbee I'm in a state of shock at being top of the league. I'm also glad that Celtic aren't running away with it (yet!).

c) If (when) hearts are liquidated, the money will still be collected and the main debtor will still get the money due...wonder who the main debtor is?

This might or might not be of any interest to some of you who follow Scottish football, it's clearly written by a hibby with an axe to grind, interesting none the less

Firstly, for a number of years I've had a contact that works/has contacts in Vlads 'inner-circle'. My contact is a girl in Kaunas who has direct dealings on a day-to-day basis with Liutauras Varanavičius, one time Chairman of HoMFC and now the head of the Lithuanian Football Federation. He's also an ex-Ukio employee and the information is as solid as it gets. My contact was seconded to Austria for a few years and my info dried up. but she's recently returned, hence the info. Trust me on this.

I've received information that Hearts are the least of Vlad's worries as the holding company UBIG are about to go into liquidation. You've maybe read the stories that their 'jewel in the crown' bauxite plant workers in Bosnia have went unpaid for 3 months (and there are 1200 poor souls) and this will be the final straw that will break the back of UBIG.

The bank, Ukio, are under investigation from the Lithuanian authorities as they've been implicated in a money laundering and asset stripping scandal that brought down Bankas Snoros (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snoras). While the bank may not be in immediate danger of closing, it will in the coming months once the investigation is complete.

Also - Ukio have recently taken over the interests of the Zalgiris basketball stadium (seehttps://newsclient.omxgroup.com/cdsP...ssageId=650056) This isn't actually the case. UBIG have been running the stadium in a shan partnership with Vilnius Municipality for some years and what they've taken on is a dilapidated stadium on the other side of the river with some waste ground attached that they hope to convert into private accommodation. This won't happen as the stadium is actually situated on an old WWII Jewish burial ground and has been earmarked for a preservation order.

The bottom line is Vlad is manoeuvring all of the assets outwith the UBIG portfolio in an attempt to recoup some cash once UBIG fail, and that could be tomorrow for all we know. Hearts don't even make the press in Lithuania, so there's no need in trying to source any info from there.

The circus is unfolding and Hearts are absolutely fuxored.

I am sure we beat a couple of teams from the self proclaimed "Best League in the World" that year.Wonder what went wrong there?:mmm:

We don't do too bad for a pub team.

I sometimes think the SPL gets a wee bit too much of a bad name. We're certainly no EPL,La Liga or Bundesliga, but for a nation of only 5 million or so, I think the entertainment served up isn't too bad.I enjoy going to watch Scottish football much more than watching the over paid mercenaries in other leagues.

And anyone who thinks Celtic wouldn't do well in England are kidding themselves.Given a couple of seasons to get used to things and the TV money they'd get, there's no doubt in my mind they'd be consistently top 4 with city/united & chelsea.

I was working at Canary Wharf in London when Celtic were on this run. Couldn't believe the arrogance of the average English football fan - totally dismissive of Celtic's chances despite their English opponents being far from world beaters. It led to the highly unusual situation of me in a pub watching Celtic and wanting them to win.... I actually cheered when they scored!

I know they did, I mentioned it.

They beat us in the semis, from memory. Shame as Seville is a lovely city, and would have loved to have got there.

Remember it well Thommo scored a cracking free kick that Gerard jumped over and Hartson scored from the half way line ;)

Quarter final though a Dodger pointed out

Re: A simply ludicrous result.

1/4's Liverbirdie.....we despatched the might of Boavista in the semi's.;)

I remember asking a mate to be ready to book Easyjet flights to Spain at the final whistle (if we got through), I must have thought that if we got past Celtic, we would still get through the semis. Arrogant EPL fan, moi? Just an optimistic LFC fan. :)

I had 4 tickets for the final, as me and my mates booked some through UEFA - I could have probably sold them for about £6 grand all together, but ended up passing them on via a mate to some Celtic fans for face value. I could have had a new back kitchen and bathroom, with hindsight.

You deserved the result at Anfield from memory, Hyppia couldn't deal with Hartson that night. Was the 1st leg the one were Mcmanaman scored that wonder goal at celtic in a 2-2, or was that an earlier game? Carried it about 100 yards, beat about 4 men, then slotted it. I remember playing Bishopbriggs GC and walking off around 6.30 in a quiet, serene setting. An hour later 60.000 hoops screaming their heads off, bit of a change!!!
