It’s been a while since we’ve had one of these…

Recently lost weight and have gone down from XL to L, current water proofs are hanging off me and making me look like a sack of spuds! So I need to replace them. Having to replace lots of clothes so can’t go mental, I haven’t got Galvin green money, maybe £150-200 for both.

Current jacket is Proquip and whilst it keeps me dry, it’s the ‘sweaty’ type’ and so I’m keen to avoid that, and same with the trousers. Would prefer not to have ‘over trousers’ type.

Any recommendations?

Have a look at Craghoppers, specialist walking clothing, but more than suitable for Golf, also comes with a lifetime warranty.

Their lined waterproof trousers are excellent.

Footjoy Hydrolite trousers and jacket (same as in my profile pic) were good, but I haven't found anything better than proquip - although if you want a non-golf brand, Patagonia Torrentshell H2No jackets are incredible.

I have FJ Hydroknit trousers and they're perfect - feel just like regular trousers that happen to be waterproof. I too hate the plastic overtrouser type. These FJ ones only cost me about 100 quid I think. I have a Hydroknit pullover jacket as well, and same deal really, almost feels like a regular midlayer top but is fully waterproof - again around 100 quid.

Both of the last Goretex jackets are Spraway, came what is currently Blacks a lot cheaper than a a dedicated golf one.
They both have a removable inner 'jacket' which when removed effectively makes the jacket half a size larger which is great for freedom of movement.

I'm lucky that I won it because I couldn't justify paying for them myself, but the Galvin Green top and bottoms are legitimately incredible.
I have a Galvin Green bucket hat which is superb, that was the only bit of Galvin Green gear that I could afford. 😁

I had thought that Proquip were no longer but I am wrong

Several of my jackets are theirs and my lightweight over trousers the same.

I have still got Proquip and Sunderland Goretex trousers that I wear without having trousers on, bought many years ago, that are as waterproof as the day the were bought.

Adidas Rain Rdy jacket and trousers bought combined for £150 ish are perfect for me. Jacket actually has a hood which is unusual but handy and can easily be used off course also. When I purchased looked at reviews and it was implied that it had many features of the more expensive offers on the market.

For waterproof trousers, I would highly recommend these which are brilliant in the rain and a decent price
