We have a board comp on the Sunday of The Open, some people have asked if we can move the first tee time from 1pm to 10.30am because the want to watch The Open.

Personally, I am not bothered, I will watch whatever is left of play when I get home, if I can be bothered to pay for it, but I would rather play than watch.

How about everyone else?

All of our competitions has a drawn section from 7.30-11.00 and in most you can roll up after this. It doesn't really matter what time you go off in that booked section as you'll get back before the back nine for certain even at the back end of the draw

if i have tickets to go watch I would do that

just on tv...i would 100% be out playing weather permitting

Perfect timing would be play and then watch the last 2 hours in the clubhouse with other golfers who are just as interested as I am. Collective watching is more fun than watching it at home on your own with your wife asking if it has finished yet 😟

I'll be there this year so won't be playing.

In previous years when having not been at The Open on the Sunday we've always got a dead early tee time and then got home to watch the whole days play!

For me, The Open is the highlight of the golfing year and I love every single second of it!!

Takes me back to when I used to play with my Dad in the days when the FA Cup was an event, playing on the Saturday afternoon of the final you pretty much had the course to yourself!

and there was no chance of your team being in the final.

Makes perfect sense, play And watch.
Incidentlly, why such a late start? All comps at my old club started at 7.30 in the summer

Why not start it earlier and then people can watch in the clubhouse after - that's what our club is doing. Means people can play and then watch, plus brings money into the club.

A few years ago a mate of mine & I played in our Invitation Day with two guests. When booking, my mate had forgotten that it was the last day of The Open. He decided to record the play & was determined no to hear the result when we got in. When we finished, he shook hands with our guests on the 18th green, got in his car & went home! I was left to buy them a drink & couldn't avoid seeing the last half hour's play.

Playing golf is much better than watching it. In a direct contest I'd rather play every time. Especially if you can still catch the back nine of the leaders afterwards, since that's the business end. But also, this:

No question for me, play play play.

However I think the others are asking to do both(play and watch), and if that was an option I would pick that:thup::D
