WARNING !!!!!! RANT ON THE WAY

On behalf of the more mature members of the Forum I would like to apologise to Jan, Barb, AliB and any other lady Forumers for some of the overtly sexist comments above.

One of our summer singles matchplay KO's is mixed and I'm looking forward to playing against a lady member in the 1st round. I know that I am going to have to be on my game to stand any chance of beating her. We each play off our own card and indexes and the best Stapleford score on a hole wins it.

Should be fun. :)

Whoa there! I'm getting on a bit and I agree with the guys that DONT want to play with ladies. I can think of nothing worse than having to play anything (apart from the obvious) with a woman. I do not want to cook, clean, iron or go shopping, that is their job. My job is to go to work then play golf or booze with my mates on the weekend. I don't wanna do their things why do they insist on doing mine. They should stay off the flipping course.

Each to their own Drawboy - I read most of that as being tongue in cheek but now I am not so sure

Id like to DISASSOCIATE myself from your remarks drawboy.. I realy hope you are jesting here ,,even tho i started the OP, it was in reference to my qualifying club comps & in reference to the letter in this months mag , I cook, clean iron & do the shopping , i feed & change the baby & anything our other 2 kids need .. I respect womens rights in every way , i just dont want to have to play a qualifying round of golf with them , society yes , mixed if we both choose to ,,

Are we ready to move this to out of bounds/ never read so much waffle in my life!
I can see the argument for and against, but bringing cooking etc into it?

Shall we tear into those with high handicap who protest just a smidge too much? All that time wasted in pointless waggles, dodgey movements loosely resembling a swing, cursing and slamming of clubs when the ball goes where your wacky swing tells it to go, surely is every bit as bad as a lady topping it straight up every hole for net pars?

Me? I had a bad experience with a lady golfer once and haven't wished to play again with the fairer sex on a round of golf.

:)

Despite not being a mature member, i echo these sentiments. Bet you are glad you are playing in the mixed event at Woburn with me Jan, and not some on here.

   ;)

Oh c'mon, lets be honest no one likes playing with lady members, stop being so P.C. I'd like to disassociate myself with golfers who "pretend" they do ;)

Cue Benny Hill music, and lots of scantily clad female golfers chasing drawboy up the 18th with ball retrievers in hand! :)

You know what i hate - i hate turning up to a serious golf competitions and they've paired me up with smoe senior over teh age of 50. Outrageous. They play a completely different game to me, they are miserable and talk in their little cliques, they dont hit the ball the same distance to me, and they use old clubs,

Actually what is worse is putting me in with a "junior" - i cant believe i pay my membership and have to listen to these pretty trendy types who dont wear the right kinds of clothes, and they dont even play the same game of golf as us - i mean who ever thought that hitting a ball 300 yards is what golf is about ???

Actually some japanese people turned up at our cuorse this week - i couldnt believe it !!!

Then some "Professionals" turned up to play a competition - i was straight in ther ecomplaining to the secretary - they certainly dont play i game that i am familiar with. Get them out

last week someone even teed off with a yellow golf ball - what will they thnk of next ? i complained to the professional for allowing them onto my golf course.

Funnily, when i turned up for the weekly roll up, no-one wanted to play with me ...? Their loss

;)

Well I'm now a house husband and do the shopping, cooking, cleaning and look after my two daughters. I'm also a high hcper who at the minute is playing the worst golf of my life!! Does that mean I'm not allowed to play on the course!! Not all women can't hit the ball further than 80 yds, yes there may well be a few but then there are a few of us men too. Women pay their fees the same as the rest of us let them get on with it.

Of course it doesn't.
Play off the reds
;)

I had to inwardly smirk at the neanderthal 3 ball I was in who moaned and griped about the ladies 3 ball tee-ing off in front of us, mutterings of 5 hr rounds, shouldn't be allowed blah blah, 3 of them split the fairway about 200 yds, the 2 with me scuffed and topped their tee shots with their wonky swings.
The combined handicaps of the 3 ladies was still LESS than my partners individual ha ha grow up!

Seniors medals are all played in mixed groups at our place, men off the whites, women off the reds using their own cards. Mostly it works OK. Otherwise unless it's a mixed comp men's and women's are separate.

The only issue is that the women NEVER play off the marked red, only of the day's red (equivalent to a yellow). They have some excuse for not doing so but imo, although there are some good women golfers, they ALL have dodgy handicaps - and none are Michelle Wie.

We have two courses: the Big course for men and the Wee course for women, juniors, old people and men (sometimes).

A few ladies venture on to the big course but it is normally such an awful experience for them that they return to the wee course. Old people rarely play the Big course as they might expire half way round and Juniors seem to be too busy with Xboxes, twitterbook etc to invest the time to play these days.
