VVD ................... well done, nice touch.

The game ends. Players shake the referees hand (usually) and he then added a bit of humanity by giving the guy a small hug?

Why on earth should he wait until they were away from anyone else to do that? It wasn’t like he overdid it and spent ages hugging and crying with him?

Your thought that he did it falsely to gain favour is a joke Kellfire.

It’s a well played game by Kellfire - got to admit he has everyone looking like ganging up on him just by posting what he did without watching the video or even understanding the situation.

I very much doubt people would think the same way as you in the instance - yes there are plenty of people who will stage “heartfelt moments” to enhance their image but I think anyone looking at the video would quite clearly see an instant human reaction to someone clearly upset and just gave him a little bit of comfort - I doubt Kellfire does have the cold heart he displays prob just looking to play up to the crowd - a bit like Piers Morgan or Adrian Durham

This was just a thread from Slime saying how nice it was to see a bit of genuine human comfort in a game that has a very bad public image

I suspect most will clearly see VVD was just giving a natural human reaction fro hearing some bad news - quite clearly not staged

There will be so many regular posters who share my skepticism but aren’t voicing it. And that’s sad but they’re clearly scared to face the unwarranted backlash to not conforming with the “goody goody” nature which seems to be the wont of many.
Prove it. Who are they?

You and you alone turned this thread sour, you could of ignored it, called it a non-event as others did, you from watching the same event on tv or on here have decided to be judge and jury on Van Dijk’s actions.

You have shown yourself time and time again on here as a cynical sad man who claims to understand the world far better than anyone else on here and have no problem telling us.

You’re like a cloud on a summer’s day.

I've just watched it Phil; the hug from VVD is a reaction to something said by the referee. So obviously, not only was it staged but the referee was in on it, the utter cad.

Sometimes I despair...

It's worse than that BiM. I've heard that VVD was so desperate to stage this that he actually murdered the ref's mum pre match so that he could look good by hugging the ref at the final whistle.

(It's possible that I might have made some or all of that up)

Is it not in your make up to understand that it’s just a simple act of kindness to someone who has just lost their mother.

Is your outlook that bad to think that VVD is that cynical to want a bit of PR in that situation

Like another thread, why debate with a egotistical attention seeker???

If I knew the person and we had a good relationship, I’d believe their sincerity.

If one of the guys I play six aside against on a Monday night offered me condolences for my mum dying I’d know he didn’t actually care.

I think it’s incredibly naive and borderline immature to think that every apparent act of kindness is altruistic.

You are full of brown smelly stuff mate.

Of course I can’t prove it but you do know it’s true.

As for turning it sour - go read my first post. The point was... it was a non story. Then people replied and challenged my point.

Weird how people ignore the actual events.

You’re genuinely pathetic. Stop trying to read my intentions because you’re just getting it wrong.

Can we put an end to this sad thread. I'm afraid whether people (well one) think it was a grotesque stage managed event and the majority chose to see it as nothing more than a reactionary act of human kindness, some of the stuff on here is doing the forum name no good. I'd simply ask if this was a rugby union match or game or cricket and a player went up to the referee or umpire and did the same thing would there be such a fuss.
