Managed to get a home draw in the 1st round with a guy from my old golf club and had to give him 3 shots.
Got of to a good start pared the 1st to go 1 up we both pared the 2nd
The 3rd par4 I had to give him a shot, both hit good tee shots my 2nd finished pin high but to the right of the green he topped is 2nd and put is 3rd on to the green and 2 putted I was up & down hole halved.
Made par at the 4th par 3 to go 2 up
Should have won the 5th on the green for 2 and 3 putted, hole halved.
Won the 6th with a bogey
7th and 8th were both halved
On the 9th par4 Chris ended up on the 10th fairway way left of the 9th fairway, mine was down the middle Chris played first and hit a great 2nd shot to within 4 feet of the pin, I was 160 yards to the middle of the green down hill wind behind hit a full wedge and put it in the green side bunker got the bunker shot to within 4 feet of the pin and 2 putted Chris rolled in a great putt for birdie, 2 up at the turn
Then lost 2 in row to which I had to give him shots
12th and 13th were both halved.
Pared the par3 14th to go 1 up
Lost the 15th to a bad 2nd shot after a very good drive, all square again
Both halve the 16th
Lost the 17th par 3 after two shots out of the bunker to go 1 down with one to play
18th par 5 dogleg to the left Chris hit bad tee shot way left into the rough my was straight down the middle Chris then hit another bad shot I hit a good 4 wood ( chance to get the hole back) Chris then just played one down the middle I had 145 yards to the middle of the green 8 iron (played this shot hundreds of times) could not believe what I did sliced it into the bushes lost ball dropped another ball and hit onto the green Chris put is 4th on to green I had a putt but missed so lost by 2 holes, the good thing to take away from the match was that I played to my H/C 40 in 44 out par 72 the bad thing was I hit 2 bad 8 iron shots which lost me the match, Well played Chris and thanks to the staff at GM.
Off to wosley park tomorrow with Doh and Qwenty for a knock

You said you had to give 2 of the 3 shots you were giving away on holes 10 and 11.
This made me wonder how many clubs have followed CONGU's recommendations on SI allocation - one of them is that no 2 adjacent holes should have an SI from 1-6.
In my experience 95% of golfers believe that SI1 is the most difficult hole to play to par, SI2 the second most difficult and so on. If you look at the CONGU recommendations, you'll see that is not the aim of the SI allocation.
If you're giving away 3 shots, you would not want them to be on holes 1, 2 and 3. Conversely if you were receiving 3 shots, you would not want them on holes 16, 17 and 18.

the 10 hole is S/I 1 and the 11 is S/I 3 hope this helps

HA HA Just had a look at the guide lines for SI and ours are totally off the map, SI1 which should be near the middle holes is the 3rd, 7 & 8 and 11 & 12 are SI 5,3,4,2 and therefore the rest are out of sync. At least they got the first and last right at not lower than SI8

I'm gonna piggy back onto gjbikes thread and report that I too have fallen by the wayside.

Played yesterday in the heavy rain all the way round until the sun came out on the last hole.

Giving away 5 shots on the other blokes course and came to the last a/s. Unfortunately the last hole was SI4 and he launched a 3 wood 2nd shot to 15' , I couldnt birdie so had to shake hands and wish him well.
