Talking to a welsh guy yesterday. Who happens to be a City fan. He was saying VAR is taking away a lot of fun in Rugby. Nigh on every try is reviewed.
If they can't see the flaws in VAR after the abject performance in the Norwich - Chelsea game then there is no hope for it whatsoever. And I was hopeful that it could be an improvement.
It was poor yesterday as you should have had a clear penalty but I’m not sure on the stamp - it’s a strange one , looked like he was just going to stop the ball and then the Chelsea guy got there a second before and looked an accident as he appeared to be looking away and was shocked when he made contact BUT i suppose it’s all about intent
Walton was comedy gold trying to big VAR and how well it works. So many VAR discrepancies this weekend it just doesn't seem close to being usable and reliablePeter Walton trying to explain why VAR didn't change some decisions. It is utterly laughable to listen to him trying to justify why a clear stamp is not a red card offence, amongst others. I have never heard one human being spout so muchin such a short space of time. (and Mrs BiM has given this a like

They are currently a laughing stock because of this.Just seen the foul on Haller v Norwich, how hasn’t it been referred to the ref to check 😂😂😂😂
What is the point in having millions of pounds worth of tech and not using it?

Came on here to write exactly this. All three were genuinely terrible decisions, yet none were overruled. Painful. Is there something wrong with the VAR pictures they get ?!
How the hell didnt Tielemans get sent off and that’s on top of the Villa disallowed goal
Add in the Haller tackle as well
It’s getting embarrassing
The difficulty for VAR is that everyone expects the decisions it provides will be correct despite those calls being based upon the judgement of an individual.
Television is a two dimensional medium and, therefore, is restricted in the information it can provide.
In some instances this is not a problem as in the case of the Tielemanns challenge.
In others it is. From one angle it appeared that Grealish may have been fouled, from another it seems that he dived having hung out his left leg to try to create contact and the defender pulling away.
So just like the old days i.e. pre-VAR it is all about opinions.
I don't think there was much, if any debate on the Grealish one. He didn't even look for a penalty, he actually managed to play the ball to his teammate while going down, then got straight up. Never looked at the ref or anything. To call it a dive was laughable, and the VAR would have clearly showed all that, surely??The difficulty for VAR is that everyone expects the decisions it provides will be correct despite those calls being based upon the judgement of an individual.
