Well Padraig has got his work cut out if he's going to win the Order of merit from Karlsson. He's 5 over after the 1st round (11 behind) and he's got to win or come 2nd with Karlsson nowhere. Westwood has a chance and he's only 5 off the lead. Karlsson is between the 2 at 2 over. Leader is 6 under - a good score round there.

Is he going to do it??

I'm cheering Westwood on. My current favourite golfer (has been for the last 5 years or so since I got a signed shirt for a charity auction and watched him play. Now got a "current" signed shirt - which is getting framed) and I think he will take up the Harrington baton now he has got a short game.

As always I am in the Sergio camp, he is playing well in patches but his short game keeps letting him down at crucial moments.

Looks a beast of a course!

Apparently its not the beast it was back in the 90's. They quote "advances in equipment and ball technology" as the reason. So its tough - but not as tough as it was!

Played it earlier this year before the credit crunch.
It was tough even with the aid of modern technology.
Wouldn,t say it's overly long but your required to be so accurate off the tee, even from the fairway you could be blocked out and the greens are really small.
Nice to say I've played there but don't think I'd go back.

Karlsson would be a worthy winner as he's been the consistent performer on the tour.
