Use of 'non-standard' distance markers

100 people could go out the day before and take notes of distances/ pin positions etc but if they all started 'planting' twigs/sticks it would be a right mess.

Then they might have to resort to painting their twigs in their favourite colour so they could identify their own markers. I might just start a new thread on which colour they would choose and why!

My comment has nothing to do with measuring and putting out sticks.

Can you enlighten me as to what you meant then? Seems like you didn't get the answer you thought so took this approach.

If you check the timeline of the Posts, you should see that you 'Seems..' comment is illogical!

Why does everyone have to talk in riddles? Are you suggesting he commented saying "let's just do away with all the rules of golf" before he got an answer from the R and A to suggest the other person measuring and placing sticks wasn't breaking any rules? If that is the case, it wasn't quite what I was referring to. I was more referring to his reaction to my post off the back of others saying they saw no problem with it.

If you weren't talking about that, then maybe you can enlighten me as well!

Let's put this to bed OK? It has nothing to do with the subject matter of the thread. My comment was directed to the statement (I guess you made) That if a player knows the distance of his shot he still has to hit it that distance.

Right, OK... I see... I think. You were basically saying, "if all you have to do is hit it 145 yards because you know it is 145 yards, then let's just do away with all the rules of golf". I did not get that.
