Just watched Akshay Bhatia play a ridiculous flip shot from the back of the 2nd.

edit: it was the 1st not the 2nd.

Has anyone here been to Augusta?
I can't get over how they make it out to be the only place in the world with hills and wind. Yesterday they were bigging up the wind, camera cuts to the caddies and their overalls are perfectly still!

Are the pros just so spoilt with following the sun and playing in 25 degrees with 3 mph wind each week, that this is relatively like playing Burnham & Berrow in December?
To be fair it can be quite sheltered at ground level in places with trees in the hollows and still pretty windy.
From what I saw of leaves blowing around and branches blowing it was fairly breezy yesterday. I understand the TV flattens a lot of the perspective and it is pretty hilly compared with most.

Random Masters thoughts:
  • Brandel Chamblee & Greg Norman are both total 🔔🔚
  • To the guy that shouted "you're doing great stuff online" to BDC - totally agree, and I'm not annoyed he's leading at all
  • Scottie Scheffler - "efficient" is right. Rarely follows a mistake with another
  • McIlroy - probably a good group for him to be in, Scheffler will be there or thereabouts at the end, so today is massive for him; feel he has to at least match or better Scheffler this evening, if he's another 5 back from him today his race is run.
  • Augusta National - heard some interesting stories on podcasts prior to the tournament, checked out a bit more of its history..... really quite a chequered history (original golf 'sportwashing'!)
  • However, for all that & current cheesy-ness, still love it
  • Tiger is swole, angry, sweaty & slow moving (quick shots though)
  • Homa doing great in Tigers group
  • Malnati & Harman - worse than Couples in R1. Shocking
  • Spieth - heads gone.
  • Willet - did not see that coming. Playing risk free.
  • Rich Beem on sky yesterday - a few senior moments, had me worried but seems okay today
  • Some choice outfits.
  • Fred Ridley - wrong place for discussion, but just couldn't grasp the rationale of his OGWR comments in his 'state of the golf nation' presser.
  • Like him or loathe him.... Gary Player is in good shape at 88.

Apparently it’s breezy again today. My heart bleeds for the poor dears. How will they cope?

I know right.. professional players who can draw or fade a ball basically on command so can control in the wind (that's a light breeze)

Compared to the average golfer who pays good money to play in 30mph gusts where the ball flight is 70% chance

I’m absolutely not having a pop at the players - I’m sure they’re not complaining. It’s the constant reference to it by Sky’s excruciating commentary team.

Whoever thought Laura Davies adds value to TV coverage should be locked in a room and made to listen to her for 24 hours.

What happened? I read he got very lucky on a few holes but it didn’t describe how.
You need that to put a good round together or win a tournament.

Bryson was lucky on the last 4 holes that I saw. And made the most of it.
