Upcoming live concerts.

Foo Fighters at London in June next year, should be a good weekend.
I was pleasantly surprised how good their new album was. I thought the last couple were a bit hit-and-miss. And I wasn't even sure they'd carry on so quickly after Hawkins' passing. But yeah, the new album is great, bit more of a throwback to the 'Nothing Left To Lose' kind of era.

Belle and Sebastian next Thursday. I’ve always enjoyed their stuff but never bought any, never mind been to see them. Really looking forward to it. The Boy with the Arab Strap being a particular uplifting boppable favourite. This from Glasto 2015 always makes me smile 😋🕺💃

Same, we're going to the Thursday. A few weeks after heading over to Helsinki to catch both nights of Metallica!

Ditto, am taking my son (who'll be 11) to it... Will be his first real gig. Can't wait.

Forgot to mention that I saw Steve Vai last month at Guildford, G-Live. He was doing a "masterclass Q&A*" with some playing. It was good fun.

I have seen Vai a few times before and wondered if time had caught up with him. Err, no. There are levels of guitarists...good, excellent, brilliant and genius. Then there's Vai.

*for aspiring pro guitarists - i.e. not me!

Have got tickets for The Boss, next week in Hyde Park, and later in the year The Hollies, Waterboys and Aussie Pink Floyd.

Last few weeks seen Mike and the Mechanics and John Lees BJH

Echo and The Bunnymen this saturday. Only negative is i'll be in the seats and not on the floor.

Absolutely fantatsic show last night. McCulloch's voice was in fine fettle and Will Seargant was immense.

Oddly, I'm going to see the Sisters Of Mercy next week. Feels like it is probably twenty years too late but...

You would be surprised. Most of the bands from that era that I have seen recently are still in fine fettle. The Wonderstuff, Jesus Jones, PWEI, seen the all in the last couple of years and all are still superb.

Oh, I've seen many of them and as you say a fair number can still hold their own. I have though heard some worrying things about Andrew Eldritch's vocal capabilities nowadays!

Interested to hear what you think. Another one on the list of taking my wife to see bands I saw in the 90s

So, it was an odd experience; the band (not the original musicians) were pretty much on point throughout, and the staging was excellent...but Eldrich's vocals were kept very low in the mix throughout, so you could barely hear him (his mic was noticeably lower than the lad playing bass, who could actually sing). I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I'd bother to see them again if that makes sense?
