Un-Homer Style Round Review 1

Front 9 - 22, Back 9 - 12. Nuff said. New irons - no comment!

22 points on the front 9 with new irons is something to be positive about and 34 total, well some people would be happy with that.
I take it you're not?

I holed 2 monster putts for birdies - 1 of which would have been a good 2 put back had it not hit the hole! A good save on the 6th from the sand for bogie, lucky not to be in the lake on 8 (and made par). Great score on the front but didn't feel like I played well - the back 9 was awful - worst I have hit the ball in ages - no feel or any clue what would happen on every shot - most faded and spun sideways - something wrong in my set up, well, more wrong than normal - ball in lake on 13 and 14.

It is a comp at 9 tomorrow and I am on 13.9 - really don't fancy 14.0!! A few weeks ago, I felt pretty confident!

i played the best front 9 of my life today 24 points i fort this is going to be the day that i'll have a cut but then the back killed me 12 points dam'n this game

33 Points for me today, despite 5.....YES 5, Double Bogeys !

Apart from that, played some of my best golf of the year so far, big drives, superb drawn mid irons, so must take the positives I guess ?

For the rest of the year now, my sole intent is for Cards with no 6's on !
Period.

Hard perhaps,......but the ONLY way I will get back down to Single Figures.

I managed no double bogeys today, which is also a target of mine. No 6's either but that wasn't something I was conscious of until I read your comment.

Would have had 38pts if it were singles (off 3/4) and had 40pts as a 4BBB.
Didn't think I played particularly well either, just shows how keeping the doubles off helps your score!

22 playing off (just under)14 at your course's Front 9 is blooming good - 3 over if i calc correctly.

Woudl have thought a fade on 13 and 14 was the right shot ?

Still, shows you can do it - keep the positivity, be happy with the game that you take with you tomorrow and keep sinking those putts

Homer and I had our combined stableford comp at the club. It was 3/4 h'cap so we were both off 9. I had a pretty good day, 34pts but had 3 doubles and 2 x 3 putt bogies  I hit probably 2 really bad shots all day both leading to doubles but apart from that I hit it great and 9 GIR which is my best yet this year. I'll let Homer tell you about his day but our team score was 58 - you can work it out for yourselves.

So how much we playing for on Wednesday?
:D :D :D :D :D

14. You hacker

Bring it on "Bakers Dozen"! Looking forward to Wednesday however I play. Not feeling too good about a comp tomorrow - especially early with a hangover. Might take a bit of adjusting to these new bats - if not I may go for an annulment due to constipation and no consumation!! But, to be honest, I was fading the woods today as well - not a nice swing, so not giving up yet :p

Seve - a fade aint good when you hit the right edge of the green on 13 and it spins right into the drink - same on 14 - landed on terra firma but the lie of the land and shape mean another ball to the Bearwood monster!!

Oh no.....

14 must surely be the safest bet of the year? ;)

Not much to say except it was wildly inconsistant. Good solid pars, alongside too many wayward shots. The ball striking was good for the most part but chipping was woeful, a couple of bad breaks and lies and to be honest I'd lost concentration by 14 and so was just playing without really thinking for the last few holes.

Mike played really well all day from finding the green on the first onwards. Shame about the odd three putt and hitting into a hazard from the middle of the fairway on 7 but other than that he is running into some decent form. Shame he got lumbered with a muppet.

41 points for myself (4ball partners 3/4 handicap, 43 pts total) with a trial yes callie just to have a go with it, after 1 hole wanted my own putter back but had to leave it behind as i already had 13 other outfield players. Driving, irons and chipped well, putting was chronic as every putt came up well short, thought those c grooves were supposed to help?? :p

I was the same today was counting up on the 12th tee and seen I was 8 over with 3 double bogeys

Need to keep the doubles at bay!!!

36 putts is chronic to me homer for 17 holes as I chipped in on the 13th, one of 4 missed greens all day iirc.

My driving and irons really are doing well, putter felt great but I just couldn't get the distances at all, 6 filters were stopping short by 12 inches and anything outside 15 feet was either a tough two putts or one of a few three putts.
