Afternoon all, looks like me and a few of the lads are planning a weekend break end of Feb / start of March. Due to a break later in the year we were thinking somewhere in the U.K.

Obviously there are the common st mellions, Celtic, Woburn, but does anyone have any other recommendations.

Ideally somewhere than drains well as the weather around then could be a bit touch and go

Go for a links course - Princes ? or look at Sheringham/Cromer

Depends how far you want to travel ? Hawkstone Park ?
Old Thorns
Any Marriott or De Vere

Old thorns isn't far from us, and princes / cinque ports isn't either. My only worry is a couple of the lads are 23-25 clappers and although they are better than the hc suggests I think links would kill any confidence.

Maybe Stoke By Nayland ?

Sprowston Manor ?

Oxfordshire ?

Stay away from St Mellion that time of year. A better deal might be around the Padstow area and play St Enadoc/Trevose (good accom) and a few other ones around the area.

Trevose is a good shout. I've been there a few times and stayed in The Fairway Cottage which is about 50 yards down the 1st fairway!

Slime.

Get yourself down to Saunton. Two cracking courses, that drain brilliantly, and tends to be a bit warmer in the winter than most places. You could also get a game at Burnham and Berrow on the way down. Three GM top 100 courses in one trip.

Couldn't agree more, when we did our winter meet there I was far from wow'd, but cinque ports..... Completely different -,awesome!

I would have thought that when you are playing Princes, you will be looking over the fence and wishing you were playing RSG's.

Some of you lot are seriously deluded about Prince's!! One of the best courses in Kent and great accommodation too - decent packages with the other 2 also.

Very good in Feb as its dry compared to the rest of the country. My honest opinion is jump on a plane and go to Portugal or Spain tho!

Princes is ok but fails in comparison to Littlestone , Cinque Ports and RSG

Couldn't have put it better myself!

First winter meet at princes.... Meh.... Almost have up on links golf right there
Little stone - very nice ....
Cinque ports - truly stunning, only downside for me was the 18th, after an awesome stretch of 14-17, 18 lacked a little wow factor, but was an awesome course!
